Ok, I have a 2002 Cavalier LS Sport Coupe, my driver side window is almost dead. It will go down maybe an inch then stop. The passenger window is fine. I disconnected the power to the window switch.
Let's see if I can explain this without sounding like an idiot! I bought a volt meter to see if I get 12 volts from the power supply that attaches to the power window switch. After inspecting the (female) end I noticed that one side of it has 3 wires running into the head which is the drivers side and the other side of the head has 4 wires. I checked the side where the passenger copper prongs connects to the power side and it read 12 volts but when I checked the volts where the drivers side copper prongs go into it read nothing.
Does this mean I need a new harness for my windows? Or is there something I should look at also.
Sorry, I am not a car guy when it comes to electrical. Hope I was clear enough.
Thanksin advance.
Alex
When the window hardly moves its usualy the motor itself taking a poop on you. Try jumping directly from the battery to the motor and see how it acts, if it continues the snails pace then the motor is bad. And for that I have good news and bad news. First the good news is I have 2 of them in stock and I'll give it to you at my cost as a thanks for the header hook up. Bad news is its still like $110.00 for it. PM me if it turns out you need it and I'll pick it up for you and bring it down if you need me to.
Good Luck .

I'm pretty sure I paid around $80 Canadian for a new motor when mine went bad.
The installation is a whole can of worms though...

Thanks for the offer, what size wires should I run from the battery to the window motor?
IDK whatever you got lying around will do. All your doing is seeing if its the motor or the wiring so it doesn't need to be pretty or permenent. Speaker wire should work just fine.
