figured out what the heck was rattling in me driver side door, this thing is loose, dumb loose. do you think i can do without it? none of my drill-bits fit so i was thinking about getting rid of it some how.

that is what your door panel bolts too for the door handle, I would not take it off to keep the door panel strength.

Drill out the holes and put bolts in, if your bit doesn't fit go buy one that does.
Drill out the rivets and then replace the rivets with bolts
