Couple of questions
Friday, September 29, 2006 10:12 AM
First, I have a manual yet or I would consult it. Ok here we go... What size is the the Nut at the top of the strut. The one that holds the upper strut mount on. What does that need to be torqued to. I have seen to different numbers concerning what to torque it to. I know the three bolts that hold the strut mount to the strut tower are 18 ft lbs of torque. The last two questions I have is what size are the nuts at the steering knuckle. Also what do these nuts need to be torqued to. Im hoping to get this done tomorrow so any help would be appreciated.

One other question...for those that have changed the strut mounts. Did you break the nut at the top of the strut while it was in the car?

I believe that top nut is 21mm, I can't be sure until I can run out to my car and check. No I did not break it loose in the car, just got the impact gun out and took it off. I did this only because I wasn't reusing the strut. m Hope this helps http://bradiscool.com/

I loosen them while on the car. Just don't remove them. If you remove them, it can be a PITA to get the strut out since the spring will push it down when you lift the car.
