im not much into knowing anything about the suspension parts of the cars so hopefully u guys can be some help ok well the deal is is that i just got some 18 inch wheels on my cavy (98 Z24) and i was wondering if u can lower the rear suspension? like i said i dont kow much about suspension and i am saving up for suspension kit but i just dished out abou t2 grand for wheels and tires and i want to lower the rear. thanks for and input
its not smart to do. the car is designed with the rake like that for a reason. i wouldnt lower just the rear. search around this forum about lowering the rear. the was a whole thread on it telling reasons why not to lower just the rear.
if you do plan on lowering the car, please do not take the cheap way out. please buy a quality suspension
If you get Eibach Sportlines and some Koni's, it will even out the car nicely. They lower the car a bit more in the rear than the front.
well the deal is is that i am planning on buying a good lowering suspension kit i just want this to last for a couple of weeks until i get the money saved up for a good suspension it would be for temperary. 3 weeks for the most. i was just curious if u could lower it cause i want to for now until i get the money to get a suspension all the way around. but how would u do it just using stock springs and everything
im planning on getting Koni reds
Doing anything at all to try and temporarily lower it for a few weeks would really be pretty stupid.
Just leave it along and put the proper stuff on when you get it.
yeah well the deal is is that i was going to be taking it to a car show and thats mainly the reason i was wanting to lower the rear for now it would be just for that i dont ever drive the car really just to shows and thats about it so thats y i was wanting to lower it for now cause i cant afford the lowering kit right now.
so could u guys let me know how i could lower the rear like maybe a half inch or so but i dont want to throw a bunch of stuff in the trunk to weigh it down cause its goin to be in a car show. or i would just toss some heavy stuff in the trunk and call it good but i want to just lower it for the show.
Options:
A) Leave it alone
B) Hide a bag of sand in the spare tire holder.
C) Install lowering springs on stock struts first to "save money". Horribly unsafe, rides terribly, but buys you a little bit of time. May end up costing more in the end on blown struts and alignments.
D) Chop the springs. Ludicrously unsafe, and likely to upset a "show" car anyways.
E) Wait to buy a complete package.

If it's just for the show, you could get a couple small clamps and just bind a couple of the coils together in the back. That'll bring it down a bit.
I sure as hell wouldn't drive it like that, but it'll give you the effect you're looking for.
i love when you give people the answers but they just wanna hear that its ok to do
btw koni reds arent made anymore
I was actually pretty serious about the "sack of sand" idea. The nearest burlap sack and kid's sand box could provide your answer, and you wouldn't even have to worry about heavy cargo sliding around in the trunk.
Just don't make any high-speed corners.

i thought about putting something heavy in the trunk but i didnt think about the spare tire compartment i just dont want it to show at the show though the clamp thing would wrk pretty good all i need it for is for the show and thats it. so thanks for the help u guys if u got anymore ideas keep em flowing the show isnt until the 24 and 25
i know that the koni reds arent made anymore but one of my buddies has em and hes goin to sell em to me when i got the money. they are brand new never been used and its a good deal and a good brand.
