I was ordering bearings for my tranny from a local company and found they have the thrust needle bearings exactly like what Ground Control supplies with their coilovers. If you need bearings for your GC's or if you got cheapo coils and wanted to add bearings go

Under Product Categories, choose "Bearings", then "Unmounted Bearings", and finally "Needle Roller".


I dont know the exact dimensions of the GC bearings, but if you measure the strut shaft and get a bearing based on those dimensions you are golden. Maybe someone will even be nice enough to post the dimensions here to make it even easier.

Yeah, doing a search on thrust bearings will give you lots of places to find them.

Remember though... the bearing needs two flat surfaces to turn on, one of which is provided by the top hats so if anyone is trying to patch up a cheapo kit, ensure you plan it out before just buying the bearings.

Yeah, this place is super fast...I ordered bearings, and 30 minutes later they were shipped in full via UPS.

They also sell the thrust bearing washers that go on either side of the bearings.

But yes, as Weas stated, make sure you have two strong flat surfaces for them to work on if you are patching a kit together.

They well the washers seperately? I would have expected one "bearing" to consist of all three pieces.

I guess there are uses which wouldn't need the washers though.

hmmmm...I dont know actually now that you mentioned it. Well anyway, it is a good source at least and they have a plethora of sizes to choose from. This place is the bearing capital for me.

Do you have the measurements of the ones GC uses? So far as I can tell from some pics I've got, they're ID: 0.875", OD: 1.4375" but I'm not positive on that.

I've bookmarked the link just in case I ever need to order some new ones.

I dont have the exact dimensions. I dont even have coilovers anymore. I just found that as I was browsing for a bearing for another project I am working on and there they were. I figured someone would be able to use it.

i really need a set of these thrust bearings.... but i dont know which ones to use. I looked at the pic ESB has on his cardomain site.. but i dont know what size to order? whats the inner diameter i would need? I think the struts have a 5/8" shaft size on them?

Just go out and measure the strut shaft. If you want an exact measurement, measure the circumference with a string and use it in the following equation.

Diameter = 2 * (Circumference / (2 * pi))

any way you could please check on that for me? do your bearings hold tight against the strut shaft? or they have a little play in them?


Also, how much are we looking at here cost wise for a set of 2 bearings?

That seems about right then. They've got a little play but not much. If the shaft is 5/8ths then my estimate of 7/8ths for the inner diameter is probably right. That's certainly not enough play to let the bearing slip off the washer or anything.

The cost on that site was $2.16 each for the bearings. Matching washers come in different widths. I'd go with the 0.092" ones which are $1.80 but I have a feeling that GC actually provides the 0.03" wide ones which are $0.75 each. I remember them being really thin.

So that's less than $6 per side. Seems like a Canadian site but it says prices are in USD.

I know this is really old, but has anyone ever measured there bearings to see if 7/8" is the right size to get? I called this company and got a hold of there local branch, they have this bearing in a 5/8" 3/4" and 7/8" diameter inner opening. Im not sure but 7/8" diameter inner opening seems a little bit big just to fit around the strut shaft

Wow, can someone go to the site and get me all the specs I need, there is a ton of them . Confusing! Also why not get the ones that are sealed on both sides? Won't be able to lube them I assume?
