I know I messed up my alignment to some point/degree.had the car in the air doing my first oil change after the dealership messed it up the last time. I could not get to the filter from the bottom. I tried it from the top. I could get to it if the STB wasn't in the way.
now this is what happens when you don't THINK about what it is your doing, man I feel like a newb
. i got to take the bar out of the way, mmmm Allen keys are in the house, i have all the sockets with me , I'll just take it off at the plate. bad bad bad..... the car is in the air on jack stands and here I am taking out the bolts/nuts that are holding down the STB, but more importantly holding the struts UP and in place. I got two of those lil suckers out when I started to take the third out,
I was like hey Waaaiiiitt WHAT AM I DOING?!?!?!
I immediately tightened the nut I was working with, and put the other two back. I think that since the car was lifted one that one side the tire shifted while I was putting it back in.
its hard to see but what I think i have now is the tires are like this | / so that when the car is moving my tires are like doing like this \ /. the car feels a bit "squishy" at speed. I will take it to get realigned, however that can't be until next Friday.
Is there anything that I can do in the mean time to reduce tire wear. I'm only going to be driving to work and back. about 300 miles a week.
castor shouldn't have been messed up, I the camber visually looks ok, and tow(?) looks a lil off, only way to know for sure is to take it in.
I think I'll throw the stock tires back on for the week. teh tires are way cheaper.
If I'm not mistaken, the top nuts aren't adjustable. Removing them shouldn't affect your alignment.
Taking out the bottom bolts can affect your alignment, but not the top ones.
Someone will have to clarify this though. I'm only about 95% sure.
Yeah I dont see how you messed anything up if the tops ones are the only ones you removed.
And I also dont understand how in the hell you cant get to the oil filter.
I am all that is man
Yeah, I'm confused about the oil filter issue. And the top bolts shouldn't have done anything.
lol well i got the the oil filter the easy way after I messed up you can get it with no trouble at all with the wheel off, its cake. I could reach the filter but couldn't get a good enough grip on it to remove it. the wrench I have is no good it was too large, fit the '91 2.2 go figure.
I going to double check all my tire pressures, i can check the general straightness of the wheels by using a couple of 2x4's and a measuring tape. then i will know if it is off in the left right thing. remember the tire was off the ground.
im not quite sure how you @!#$ that up either. only thing i can suggest is while the car is on the ground, untighten and retighten the bolts again.

i doubt that the top bolts would bother it. to adjust camber on our cars you have to adjust the bottom bolts (with aftermarket struts you have to buy an eccentric cam kit) when i aligned my cav in class last semester i didn't have to touch those bolts at all.

The stock struts are non-adjustable. The only way to adjust camber (w/o purchasing anything) is to slot the struts or bent something.
^^Home made sig^^ ghetto, I know.

if the vehicle is up in the air ...a.k.a tires off the ground. and you loosen/remove the bolts off the stut mount being that it moved. it will in deed mess up your toe in toe out. you'd be amazing how little 10seconds of a degree is and how much difference it makes. so yes if the strut mount moved you will need to perform a front toe alignment.
