Yep, you read it correctly the Wilwood Front Big Brake Kit WILL work with the Stock 16 inch rims. Here is just the basic info on what you need to do to make it work.
Yesterday I was at Erics house in AZ along with Chad and we tried it out on Chads car. He has the Wilwoods on his car and Eric had both the 95-99 Z24 rims (16 inch) and the 02-05 LS Sport rims (16 inch).
First off the Z24 rims needed LESS of a spacer compared to the LS Sport rims. On the Z24 rims we only used 2 spacers PER side to make the caliper clear the rims. On the LS Sport Rims we used 3 spacers PER side to make the caliper clear the rims.
Before you go on and say "well with the spacers you wont have any room to thread on the lug nuts . . ." hold your horses...
YOU WILL NEED LONGER WHEEL STUDS!!!!!!!!
Or this will NOT work . . . .
I am still looking to see which brand longer wheel studs I can find which will work as a direct replacment ones for the Cavalier/Sunfire with out any modding needed to be done to the wheel bearing it self . . .
Soon as I get more info I will post it up on the wheel studs. I will TRY to get some kind of step by step install thing made along with pictures and a list of all the part numbers and info on this install so anyone else can do it if they want to keep the stock 16 inch rims and have bigger front brakes.
Hopefully with in the next week or so I will have all the info ready so I can post it on here.

Ya, not liking the idea to much.
Do you know if it will fit better on the 00-02 S/F GT rims?

eh just get some bigger rims people
well for some bigger wheels arent in their equasion for money or stealth reasons
also it allows you to carry a full size spare

Huh? I carry a full sized spare. What difference does it make what wheel size you have if you're carrying a full sized spare?
I see three potential problems with using stock wheels:
1. Excessive load on the wheel bearings from moving the wheels out with the use of spacers.
2. The wheels stick out from the body, making your car look terrible
3. The calipers probably don't cool off as well, leading to higher fluid temps (which isn't much of a problem with the right kind of fluid).
Those aside, not bad. I always like the stock look.
BTW Karo, how thick are the spacers? Or a better question, how far out do the wheels stick out compared to stock? (Stock sized wheel/215)

If you need to use the spare it helps if it fits over the brakes.
Also I don't believe that if you have a stock looking car with stock wheels that are filled to the brim with rotor you are achieving the stealth or sleeper look.

I use a 16"x4" (T125-80/R16) donut spare tire and a custom spacer-bolt pattern adapter and works great with my 12" rotors and PBR calipers. Also fits in original spare tire space in the trunk without any mod. Inclusive I think that with the right clearance (by the spacer) it can be used with 13" rotors too.
With it I got stock look, save space, money and a not need a full size wheel for the spare one.
Regards,

Why not just use a 5x100 to 5x100 adapter? I have 1" adapters that have a set of studs pressed in to allow me to use 12" rotors with the stock 16" wheels. The adapter bolts to the rotor/hub with the factory studs & some nice open end lugs, then the wheel bolts to the adapter with the studs pressed into that. They is a nice shop that sells them on ebay for around $80 a

First thing I thought of...

Performance cars do not win car shows and show cars do not win races.
It's up to you to decide which you'd rather win.

First thing I thought of...
that would apply for any after market wheel , not just with spacers
granted spacers can be alot more extreme than a set of wheels
but all with in a certian amout is acceptable , and some people cant afford to to both at the same time
this is a means to another option
with the way our brakes when stock suck , id rather upgrade the brakes before i do the wheels
The whole excessive load on the bearings has not played a factor. The bearings are still good after a year. My heavy ass 18's hurt the bearings more then the spacers with stock 16's
id rather just get the right wheel for the application
1989 Turbo Trans Am #82, 2007 Cobalt SS G85
Hey can you get pictures of the brakes with LS Sport Rims...

Got to throw the
there. If you guys get 17 inch wheels with the proper offset, they will definately put less force on the wheel bearings than a spaced out 16 inch wheel.
Serious, the 18x8.5 +42, 50# each Allessio's I had on killed the bearings
For winter riding on 16's those spacers will be fine... or hell even a year. But hey all this theory on ecessive loads on the bearings is fine. I mean its not like I've had those spacers on for a long time & still have good bearings lol....

For anyone that lives where there is WINTER and doesn't store their car, running bigger rims isn't an option. Being able to get your stock rims on even if it's just for winter tires is a big plus for alot of people, but I can see how those with year round summer wouldn't see that.
