Ok I was woundering if there is really any diffrents in say the stock springs on a Z24 and the stock springs on just a every day cavailer cuz I know that GM clams that there is a sports II supention on the Upper modle J's but as far as I know that is just some bushings and a nice set of low pro tires. If anyone has some info I would love to here it.

I believe the "sport" packages are slightly lower than say a base model cavalier. Regardless, you will still have lots of wheel gap and won't be much difference in handling either.

Nope. Same springs. All 3rd gens so far as I know share the same springs.
The upgrades to the "sport suspension" on Z24's, GT's and some others involve different sway bars and stabilizers.

True.

Different size sway bars (base Cavy didn't even come with a sway bar).
Base Cavy = No Sway Bar and No Strut Bar, 14" rims.
Mid Cavy = Sport 1 Suspension, Including small sway bar, no strut bar, and 15" rims.
Cavy Z24 = Sport 2 Suspension, Bigger Sway bar, no strut bar, 16" rims.
Cavy Convert = same as Mid Cavy with Stock Strut Brace
Sunfire SE = same as Mid Cavy
Sunfire GT = Same as Cavy Z24
Sunfire Convert SE = Sunfire SE + Stock Strut Brace
Sunfire Convert GT = Sunfire GT + Stock Strut Brace
These are Suspension differences only! There are many other differences.
the sway bar they are talking about is the front sway bar. There is no rear sway bar there is kind of one but it is incorperated in the axle some won't condsider that a sway bar.

That is not a sway bar. The axle isn't capable of moving one side without moving the other side, with or with out that little bar. But that really doesn't prevent much sway, not like a sway bar would anyway.

I have no idea what you just said.
Because it's a hard axle; what one wheel does, the other will tend to do. This does not necessarily deter sway. So when one wheel hits a bump, the other wheel will "feel" it. When the body wants to sway, it will not stop it.
Confused you more, didn't I....
Let's just leave it as: that thing isn't a sway bar, and adding an after-market sway bar will help. But adding the after-market sway bar can't fix the fact that you don't have independent rear suspension.

you would think that would be true. but my buddy at work has a 97 4dr cav ls with a 2.4 and 15" alloy wheels and when we put new struts on it the springs had the tag still in them and we could rear the part# and it was not the same as my 04 ls sport springs. they were made of thicker wire also.

i was like WTF i thought they were all the same.

we even call our gmspo parts line and they were the right springs. i have yet to check and see how may different springs came on the 3rd gen J's but i will.
see ya!
There are different part number and different designs. But they all have the same spring rate, and all have the same ride height. That's the only important thing really. If you want to get technical about part numbers and marginally different designs, then I've seen at least 3 different ones. But they're all totally interchangable.
