Hey all,
Anybody out there running the 13" Baer front brakes and 17" wheels? I am looking to get a set of winter wheels for my car but need to find something that will fit over these big ass brakes. Jim over at Gravana has been great it getting me some info, but now I need to know which 17" wheels will work. Thanks in advance.

It's up to you to decide which you'd rather win.
I've got a set of 17x8 Konig Tantrums I picked up for just this purpose.
Haven't actually put one on yet though.
If I get a chance this weekend, I'll throw one on and take a pic.
i think the only worry you have is with the caliper clearence with the spokes of the wheels
even the 16" 95-99 Z24 , and the 02-05 ls sport wheels have the proper diameter to clear , just not the spoke spacing
Both my Motegi MR-12s and Trak_Lites fit just fine with the fronts
they are 17x7.5 42mm and 17x8 45mm respectively
................Which car will hit 400 whp first???................
I was going to say isn't it the offset that matters?
FU Tuning
Tantrums I've got are 17x8 with 40 mm offset so I don't imagine they'll have any issues with clearance. Probably have issues with cutting tires on my quarterpanels.... but I can adjust for that.
Ask, and ye shall receive.

Wow. Thanks, Kevin. That looks like more clearance than I have on my 18's...

Right now I kind of have my eye on the Axis Reverb. Kind of nice for a winter beater wheel, but it does seem as if it would fit over the brakes... 17 x 7.5 42mm offset.

Yeah, the shadows kinda mess with the pic, but you can see where you can see right through to see the actual clearance. Or click on my sig to go to my website for a few more pics.
I be totally blingin' wit dem 255/00/17's on dere yo!
So what dimensions would I have to get for a 16" wheel to fit? Just like 97cavie24ls(JDM&00s/c sedans™) said in his post about the Z24 and LS Sport wheels. Anyone know? I wouldn't mind getting the brake kit but use some 16's for winter instead of 17's or my stock 15's. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Oh and if i'm jacking this thread, I'm terribly sorry.
alex look for a post from snowman , he posted pics of those wheels on his sunfire
and those axis reverb's should clear , my friend has those with the willwood 4 piston calipers , and had plenty of room
kevin exactly how much room is there ??
My 17" Rota Sub Zero's are 17x7 with 45mm offset and clear my 12.8" front with 4 piston calipers . Oddly enough I have less clearance in the rear with the SSBC brakes out back

I didn't take any measurements or anything, but this pic shows the clearance pretty good. Theres TONS of room between the caliper and the spokes.

Wow, only $500 for a set of Rota Subzeros shipped... I think we may have a winner, Jason!

Hi Ian. Friend sorry to hack your topic, but I will like to send a question to Jason McElvy.
Jason, do you know the width of the 2 piece front rotors that are you using with front Wilwood calipers?
Thanks,

ELIOT. Now.....boosted.
Obviously it really dpends on personal preference but I was thinking bout getting some 17" PT Cruiser Turbo/Convertible Rims. Just get new rubber. I'm sure you could find the rims at a junkyard.
Yeah, I want the car to look good in the winter too
I'm pretty much sold on the Sbbzeros and copying Jason. Does that mean I'll have to leave Texas Road House through the back door too?

What about the Stock 95-99 Sunfire GT wheels will they fit? (16x6)
They won't clear the brake caliper.

are the Willwoods a better choice then for that, or the SSBC?
I'm 99% sure none will work with stock wheels...

Someone posted above that a 15" wheel will fit the 13" Bear brakes.
This is incorrect, the wheel isnt big wnought to clear the caliper, a 12" rotor will fit, and 1 16" wheel will fit over the 13" rotor, and on the stock Z wheels they fit but you ned a small spacer, maybe an inch or so wide to beable to bolt them up and clear the caliper, im thinking about doing this for my car to have a set of track tires, as 17 & 18" tires for the track are expensive and hard to find.
I tried to keep the stock Z wheels on my car with the big brakes but the would not fit.

Do you want to know the width of the rotor itself or the total width of the rotor to the outside of the hat???

Only if you plan on skipping out on the bill, LOL!!
You will like the SubZero's, only thing I don't like is I should have got 18's. They weigh 17lbs without tires and about 38 lbs with tires. I think they have an all black wheel that you will like.
