When to take your aftermarket wheels off?
Saturday, February 26, 2005 2:10 PM
I was just wondering does anybody take there custom wheels off when it snows? I take mine off the day before the first snow of winter or fall and I put them back on sometime in the middle of spring and leave them on thru summer.

I'm about the same. I took my wheels off around early Nov in favor of the winter set up (steelies and Dunlap winter sports) and will put my 18's back on sometime around end of march.

Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

It usually snows here mid to late October, so off they go. Back on pry late March.

Not to mention most people don't buy all-season 17's, 18's, etc. The ones they end up with have little or no snow traction.

i usually take mine off for the winter but this winter i kept mine on since i moved in dec to my new house and all, i had a lot of stuff to do. plus i dont drive my car that much in the winter so i dont have to worry about road salt. when i do drive in the winter its like a week or so after it snowed so everything is gone including all the salt

Mine are on year-round. I'm running all-season tires, though next winter I plan to buy some winter tires. My all-seasons got me through last year without too much complaint but this year there's just not enough tread left to bite into the snow. I've just been avoiding driving in the snow when I can.

I have all season tires on my car but I still take them off because I don't want salt to mess up my rims.
I got the all season tires because they were cheaper and just in case I got caught in the snow I would still be able to get around.

Aside from disagreeing with a couple leading members (one of which being an admin), I brought a personal matter to light for advise that I should not have done. The nature of this could have potentially put JBOM at a legal risk and these combined factors resulted in them blocking my IP. Though I could create an alias and access from work, it would have to be their decision to allow my return. I have issued a formal apology to JBOM but have still not been allowed re-entry and have been mocked by some of the leading members. While I do admit I made a mistake and have learned from it and I continue to disagree with some of its members, banning me completely had prevented me from participating in many discussions in which I could provide valuable insight. This is all I wish to say on this topic here because before long, I anticipate that those I had conflict with will likely add their thoughts. As I said before, I have made a mistake and learned but I still maintain some of my opinions regarding the organization.

Back on topic....I should have left my steelies on. We got a dump of snow last night and driving is a PITA! If I can make it up the driveway into the garage, i think I'll switch out.
