I just purchased some used Motegi MR7 17's off of Ebay. My stock wheels are bald as hell. While I'm up at college, my parents occasionally use my car at home. They want some tires on it that will be decent in the winter time.
This is coming out of my pocket and I want something fairly priced. Does anyone have any recommendations on a tire that will do alright in the winter?
Also i feel dumb asking this question, but what size tire should i get?
Thank you
If your registry was up to date then I might have some clue as to what car you're driving so I could make a recommendation on the size.
What size wheels are you putting them on?
Just about any winter tire will perform better than an all-season tire in the snow.
As far as a tire that will fit a 17 inch wheel on a J and still be good in winter, i think some options are fairly limited, cuz you need 215/45/17's on a J and to my knowledge there arent many people making snow treads in that size, and the ones that are are pricey. personaly in my experience with oversized wheels and lower profiles tires, the ones on my car handle any kinda weather pretty damn good. theyre Kumho Ecsta 711's i do believe
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
i had lots of toys when i was young.slinky,etc.but once i found my penis, that was all she wrote
Thankfully, those sizes are getting cheaper since a lot of people now need them on stock cars like the WRX, SRT-4, SPEC-V, etc...
I would buy some snow tires for your stock wheels. Cheaper, and then the wear and tear from winter will not be on the Motegis.

These are some good snows to throw on those rims. I persoanlly use the 40 series du to ride height. I would keep height in mind when choosing a tire.
I'll have a sig someday....................
Thanks guys for your help,
I heard that the 205/40/17's would fit on those rims and the cavalier. Am I wrong?

40 series would give you the WRONG ride height on 17's.
I like the 215 myself. I heard that 40 doesnt give proper height, but I have no problems thus far.
