this is thread to everyone that has blk wheels....my question is ....are blk wheels the standard on a j body?as far as looks or is it now the new "in" look.? awhile back i was trying to look into changing my color scheme and i was really trying to get into the new black wheel craze, but i cant do it. i was wanting to know for all you members on this site that has them ,what do you like about them?my only problem with them is that you cant see the detail in them and theyre somewhat bland.,im really not flaming at all....just a general question. AND are black wheels the new white...or silver....all comments welcome

Its just personal preference I guess. Dont try to look at it like a fashion trend that you have to keep up with. Just go with what you yourself like. For example to me it doesnt matter whether its black, silver, white, chrome, etc. As long as it looks good to me thats the wheel I'll go with.

i love black on blac, looks slick. Mine arent completely black but they are close enough to look nice. If you have a black car I would definitley reccomend black wheels
Mine are gunmetal does that count?"
I like them most the time but only on certain colors.. certain cars dont look good at all but u find alot of nice cars that seemed to find the perfect rim for their car it seemed. also i used to hate black wheels too because what i saw in pics.. basically looked like u could have steelies.. but when my nieghbor got some with the polished lip on his integra i loved em.. I think in pictures on a computer screen it is def harder to tell the design and detail.. but in person it looks so nice.... When i had my red cav i was all about silver rims.. then i got this dark green and i have a feel more for black and gunmetal..

I would NEVER have his car with anything but black rims... but I can picture a
blue stang with Chrome or Silver FR500's looking VERY hot.
I think it depends mostly on the car's color/shape as far as what looks best on it.
I went with graphite... they used to be silver, but everyone was getting them around here, so I powdercoated them.
I think they go with my red & black theme.
I've been running white for years now and love how they look.
With that said... I got gunmetal wheels for the winter and LOVE the fact that they don't need to be cleaned every week! Low-maintenance is wonderful!
Why do I like them? I don't.
i have gunmetal with black. i like the way it looks, and i think a cf hood is really going to match well with the rims.
its the new fad. but at the same time it seems anytime a new color option comes out it becomes the new fad. just like when gunmetal came out everyeone went with gunmetal. but you only have so many colors to choose from. im not a huge fan of black or gunmetal. it just looks like you have really dirty rims to me. but i will admit the black with chrome lips does look pretty good on certain black cars.

i like black, gunmetal, and bronze... like blue subarus with bronze or gold wheels, gunmetal goes with anything, and black on black and red cars. I think white only looks good on white cars, otherwise it looks like an rc toy.
And i also like chrome lips...

I originally had white rims on my car. After two years they looked like crap. Not because of scratches but because of brake dust and such. So in 04 I had my rims dipped in black to match the black on white theme I had going on. Whether its a fad or not, I'm keeping them.

this is mine.
i think they look good..and i do know that a drop is in order
I like the black with polished lip, looks good on an orange car with tint IMO. I don't care about fads I do what I like
to my car.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
mine are close to black but i got mine because 1. 13 inch baer brakes behind it will look good. 2. pear white and my rims i think will look good.
To me, I could care less what the trend is. Fads come and go and when you're dropping that kind of money on a car, it's just not worth it to keep up with the times. Frankly, I go out of my way to go against the grain. Just look at my sig. That's what my car will look like very soon. The body kit is widely available and reasonably priced, yet only a small number of people actually have. Why? Either because it's not the trend or it looks too much like stock. The TRD kit, Drift kit, Type J, they're all wicked looking kits, but look at how many people have them. See the wheels on my car? They're off a 17-year-old Shelby Daytona. All the comments I've gotten on this site, and even on the JBOI site, have been to tell me how hideous they look or that a Cavalier doesn't deserve to wear shoes bearing the Shelby name. So why do I have them? Because I love how they look and nobody else has them.
What I'm saying is don't worry about the trends. Whether you like black wheels, pink wheels, white wheels, whitewalls, fuzzy dice, guys, girls, or a glass of milk - do what you like.
Oh, I almost forgot. I'm painting the wheels black and the Shelby emblems are getting filled.

They always remind me of steelies , so i dont like them.
Thats why ive always went with silver, and im starting to lean toward bronze
.
mine only look like steelies at night, thanks to the Wilwood's. they'll look even better once I get the rear disc conversion done.

Those wheels of yours do look nice. I've always liked the simple 5-spoke designs on our cars. Especially bronze with the reds and blues.

Thanks man, not many people like them. Im a fool and didn't see they were available in bronze until i ALREADY ordered them.
.
Eh, nobody likes my wheels, either so don't feel bad lol... Too bad you can't have them bronzed. Or maybe you can and it'd jsut cost entirely too much.
