I am wanting to redue my seats and some other things on my interior..... what kind of fabric would be good to redue my seats? what will be strong enough to hold up to everyday driving conditions without bad fading or easy tearing? what do the pros use in the big restoration shops? where can I get fabrics for redueing my interior?
you can go with tweed, vinyl and some bodycloth fabric. I had my seats reupholstered in black vinyl and dk blue tweed in the insert(which is the middle of the seat) and the twwed is pretty durable.
What is "bodycloth fabric"?
I really like the textured vinyls like carbon fiber vinyl and snake skin vinyl.
I'm using some of the carbon fiber vinyl in mine.
Thats tetured vynil looks real nice, where'd ya get that
I am looking for a good "pinstripe" fabric to do my seats and some other things.... does anybody know where I can find some?
i have a whole roll of black cf vinyl, im using on some of my interior
got it from YAT
Yep got mine from YAT (yourautotrim.com) also. I'm using the black c/f
vinyl now too. That shade of blue didnt work well with my interior.
How come nobody mentioned leather? Are y'all just cheap?
I had the cloth surfaces on mine redone in microfiber. It looks like suede to replace the factory cloth. It still has the stock "groove" patterns and it's the same material you'd find on furniture so it's really durable and resists stains and stuff. I think it looks pretty nice, and it's cheaper than aftermarket seats. I also got it done on my dash, armrest, and inserts.
"Silly cluth, glazing is for donuts!"
im am doing my door pieces, headliner, and back deck in black vinyl
...
i dont mean to jack the thread or nuthin, but can i do my seats in this to?
i mean, can i do it myself and it look nice w/o having to take it to an upholstering shop?
what do i need to do to keep it looking professional and clean?

get some Gucci fabric seen a car on espn that had the whole interior covered in the stuff
well i just went to a fabric store (with the g/f) lol and was look for strong wearing fabic some stores have tarp, canvas type materal fabric at a good price and lots of colors and shades my int, is going black at the bottom, electric blue (middle) and top white with a cross of the colors black and blue /blue and white anyways i bought the same tarp color blue as the paint for the dash the seats are going to be black at the ends and blue in the middle 3yards each color should be more than what i need 4 the whole car and the total was $100 can. or $75 us. the fun part is taking the chairs out one at a time and undoing the sewing and hold hoops ,clips and laying out the old stuff and cutting around it then sewing it all back by hand a normal sewing machine can put the needle all the way in..... folded and such. its eazyier just getting the seat covers lol it less like me you hate knock offs. it takes time but instead of having someone do it you'll have the job well done feeling and the bragging rights hope it helps ....
