I've got the cash to get the short shifter for my Z. My only problem is, I don't want the all metal knob that comes with it. Here in AZ, I'd end up with B&M imprinted in my hand in the summer time. I found a leather knob on B&M's site that works with the reverse lockout. Anyone know where to get one? I've looked at about 5 sites now, including eBay, and can't find one.

i have a B&M and here in Colorado we get some pretty big temperature changes and what not and i haven't really had problems with the shifter temp wise, ya it gets cold, and hot but not to the point of pain and i don't ride with my hand on the shifter so its only noticeable for the 1 second im shifting and after 20-30 mins the shifter has warmed up cooled down to a comfortable temp. not to mention the thing is dead sexy.
I got one and as far as I know that is the only knob for it. Summer around here isn't as bad as when its winter. Its never burned my hand but it froze it !!
May I recomend gloves.

heck , here in el paso the rubber steering wheel burns my hands in summer
what i did was saw off the reverse catch for the shifter does no harm then you can hide that ugle reverse lock out and use a knob that isnt meant for the reverse (boot will extend and fit tight on the top of the reverse lock out) mine looks great.....i have pics if needed...

Since I have a related question I figured I'd post it here instead of starting a new topic. Jason, how much do you sell the shifter/knob for and any idea on shipping to bc Canada?
After reading a couple of the guides on istalling one of these it seems like it would be easy enough. Would it be easy enough for a noob following the instructions to do?
Oh and just about forgot, will the stock boot work with a short shifter, and how would the reverse lockout work with one of these shifters? If it's to much trouble I could do without, but just out of curiousity.
thanks

Depends on the noob.
took me an hour and a half. Most people say they can do it in a hour.
Use the stock boot, and the shifter comes with a bracket that locks out reverse.
Man.. how did I miss seeing this thread until AFTER I posted mine about the best prices on the B&M short throw.. oh well.. better than hi-jacking this one I suppose.
Jason, so far you've got the best price on the shifter, so come income tax return time, I'll probably be hitting you up for it. I'm interested in the leather knob (opposed to the metal knob) as well since it gets hot as @!#$ here in GA.. if you could, e-mail me with a price on it, part # 80560.
Thanks

hmmmm this is better than the tenis ball i cut and put over the shifter........
I'm pretty sure you'll get the same quote, but Jason quoted me at $66.99. It is compatible with the reverse lockout.
I'm just waiting for payday now.

I've got a MOMO Falcon-S knob on mine, made for a reverse lifter.
Works like a charm.
