1.how do i choose a potentiometer to use for the dome light?
2. is there a math reference that I can use to figure this out on my own?
thanks in advance
for starters why. and if your going to do it why dont you just tap in to your factory dimmer light
i want to be able to not have the dome light come on every time i turn the car off or open the door, keeping the inside hidden better from prying eyes, but i don't want it messing with the dash lights as well.
then ad a switch to turn it on or off instead of a potentiometer??? woud that work??
Seriously. It sounds like you're making this more complicated than it has to be.
The dome light isn't hooked up to the dimmer circuit for voltage.
now i know something i didn't before, all i have to worry about now is either a dinner switch or regular switch to kill the dome.
exactly. the potentiometer would look kinda cheasy. unless you can find a decent one. but still. why would you want to dim it. i would just put a switch in to turn it on and off
Sorry to thread jack but, Is there anything behind the dimmer switch panel on a sunfire? like can you drill through it and not kill anything? on the side of it nearest to the steerin wheel where there is nothing

Regular switch will do just fine.

Grab a flashlight and stick your head under the dash to see for yourself.

if you can remove it before you drill do it. that whole front section is removable. just make where you think you want something and then go to work. it doesn't take long to remove, and all basic hand tools.
Why not just remove the light bulb, use a flashlight.
how do u get the thing out. I've tried... i think im missin something
