I am wanting an all black interior but do not/currently cant shell out much $$ to have someone do them so i was wondering if anyone has ever done it themselves??
what did you use/tools?
any tips?
even if you havent done them yourself, but maybe know someone who does this type of work, what tools are needed?
would i be able to lay the fabric down over my current seats and "sew" them on and also use a spray adhesive??
Thanks for the info!!
You don't want to use Spray Adhesive.
Your Carpet just order it in black. i forgot the company but they can get alot of colors and its like 99 bucks for your car..
The seats, well, i think your gunna have a hard time turning black cloth into nice looking seats. All that stitching and work...
I suggest going to a shop and having it done or finding black seats.
Theres also a company that makes new seat covers.
Upholstering is a skill and not something you and just whip up yourself without training and practice.
Your best bet, on the cheap, is probably to just get some seat covers.
i have 2 friends(guy and girl couple) that did their own. the girl knows how to use a sewing machine, and she did his neon seats and her cav seats, and they came out AMAZING!! not that just anyone could do it, but it was her first time, and she did them all perfect!! she then went on to do the rears, and those came out great also.
i dont think i could have done them good my first try
but it is possible

Well i have done my own just cause i like to learn how its done and it feels good when someone asks: Where did you buy thoses and i can tell them I made them myself. I did a 87 Camaro Z i went to a place called fabric-land and looked for tough fabric canvas type in Electric blue and black it cost me about $100 can, Your going to need what they call a hog ring pliers and a needle with a small hook in it to cut the stitches out one by one..A hog ring is a little u shaped ring the clamps the rod that holds the fabric to the metal frame of the seat (gives it that tight look) you'll need chalk to use as a pattern form from the old fabric and a sewing machine (higher end) cause a simple one will not sew heavy fabs, Mine didn't! i did it by hand The only thing i had someone else do was the words Cargasum on the front seats in stitch by machine. you can even buy a wheel cutter that will make the holes for sewing and it make a straight line so it looks like a pro did it. its not hard it just takes time. i did the front to seats and the bottom back two seats and the fold down upper part in a week and a half black in the middle and blue on the outsides .. the cavy is next after that interior paint job your going to have to phone a upholster (Car/ Home) to find out where they bought there hog ring clamper mine was $20 But if you ever put your car in a show and you tell they "You" customized your car thats brownie points ! good luck!!

I did my rear seats with suede (grey & black matched w/ my ractive racing seats) and i added about an inch foam in it to make it more comfortable. It's isn't really hard as i thought.
I have a little knowledge about upholstering though, and my old lady has a sewing mach.
I'll post some pics some.
Al
i Turn the head covers inside out and used alittle rubbing lotion on the head rest to slide it in the lotion evapted after a day or so and the glue i all really added to the top and added more to the sides after and sewed the rest up under
