The Evolution Cavfire: widebody anyone?
Tuesday, May 03, 2005 1:29 PM
I haven't updated anyone on my progress for a long time so I figured I should let everyone into the mix. After ditching the 2003 sunfire front end last fall, I opted for the older style. I pulled a blitz kit out of a dumpster in Baltimore that was smashed up and repaired it. I got side skirts from Queenracerchick who happens to be a friend of mine. I also purchased the drift rear from someone who had broken it and I repaired that as well and shaved the plate holder since mine is frenched on the trunk. Right now I am working on a full custom widebody for the car. The widebody starts in the rear and runs up the doors. I am still working on the rear. The front is just going to be widened all together and drop off at the doors with mesh behind it like a ferrari F40. I guess I should also add that everything is molded in place. now.
The turbo H/O motor is near ready and should be in very shortly. I have a programmable MSD dis-2 and a Greddy rebic III/rebic III sim and a custom intake manifold with 4 additional fuel injectors. I should also have a full cusotm fiberglass dash done soon and doorpanels to follow. The car will be debuted at the Ocean City car and truck show June 11-12th in the under-contrruction class. I'm not going to paint it yet because there are so many more ideas I plan to go through with before I am ready for paint.
Look forward to suicide doors, a roof chop, a right side drive conversion and a rear engine/rwd conversion before I lay down a few months worth of airbrushing on the body and interior pieces.
Also, expect to see Audio and video displays that are out of this world. I will be updating progress with the body and motor work leading up to the car show.

This is how it sits in my garage as of right now awaiting the final sanding and shaping of the rear portion of the widebody:

PS: I know that the bumper doesn't come up straight with the hood. That will be fixed when I widen the front.
All comments are open. I know it isn't everyone's cup of tee. This is all my own work though so I don't appreciate a smartass comment though. I will update regularly.

I too love the way it looks right now, that's why I am doing the front the way that I am. I am cutting it at the top of the fenders all the way too the front and pivoting the rear of the fenders away. By doing that, it will look exactly the same still, just wider.

Very mean looking! I hope the hood pins won't be staying on. Keep posting some updates on the car.

Modfire, I keep them in the glove box just in case. I have a feeling the tissues are going to go fast though when the turbo H/O motor is in this week or next.

Lowfire, they will look badass on your car. Awesome headlights too. I am going to build some similar soon but with lime green lenses to go with the secret paint job.

Justin, Kaitlyn can go for a ride if she wants

Wild Weasel, paint.... you have no idea

Darren, unfortunately, there will be hoodpins in the end, BUT it is not going to look at all like that. Actually, the way I am doing it is a secret, and trust me, it will make your manhood a little wet. Since you are a non-believer that hoodpins can look good, e-mail me and I will let you in on the idea.
