Well, I've thought about doing this mod for over a good year...almost two years, but I never really wanted to attempt it. But the other day, I was like hummm let's do it!!! So i went to the junk yard (pouring rain that day), and I found a few sunfires and cavaliers
.
I ended up pulling this out from a 2 door fire.
I have bought new vacumm lines for the extension, and a brake cable from a bicycle for the temperature cable extension. For the wiring itself, I took a second set of wiring from another sunfire in the yard, so I would have the same wiring needed for all the extentions (plus as a bonus it's the same colored wire, so it makes it easier to distinguish between which wire aswell
).
This is my plan of attack.
Yup...re-locating it to the arm rest. I'm going to have to cut a nice clean line all around so the hvac unit sits nice and flush inside. I gota head out now, so I won't beable to begin the transfer until after work tonight. sadly though...I work friday aswell all day long, and I have a car show on Saturday and another one on Sunday to attend...but it will be done for the weekend.
I've also got to manage to wire up some new neons in the rear seat set up...that will be a pita to draw all the wires to the back now since everything is now installed...sigh...
very nice, hope it goes well, but ditch that till u get us more widebody progress pics
On the other hand....you have other fingers.
I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn
I'm diggin' it, good luck with that, should turn out to be a nice mod

RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
thanks guys.
just got in from work, im going out into the garage to work on it now...hopefully I get her done asap.
Justin...there is another show on Sat I just found out about...so since we aren't going to the first one, we can go to a 2nd one I found out about. let me know if your interested in it too.
The widebody will be worked on again shortly...but I need to finish this firstly...lol
Are you going to mount it as it sits, or are you going to recess it a bit so the top of the knobs sit flush? That way you still have a functioning armrest. Just a thought.
Sink them down a little bit with a flip open plexiglass cover with some blue neon rope hidden in there, so you can still use it as a arm rest, and no doubt it would look friggen sweet!!!

actually thats a really really good idea
Well too late for that as of now...maybe down the road I will fix it up a bit like you suggested.
The hvac unit sits flush on the console, however the knobs sit above it...which is what I liked about it.
Well I spent the night tonight extending all the wires, extended the vacumm lines and used heat shrink wrap to insure an air tight fit (plus I taped the ends aswell, and the temperature cable is ready to go, however I gota get up in 4 hrs for work in the morning, so I called it quits for the night.
The extensions:
And the install:
Please ignore the mass amount of dust everywhere...After dremmeling into the console I got the interior a little dirty
I'm going to create a boarder around the hvac unit for a nice clean finish.
Well I'm surprised how well everything went...smooth as pie really. I tested it, and everything works good as new
and looks like since this is almost done, I can get back to that widebody
hummm...after clicking on preview and the more I looked at it...you're right..I need to recess it more, and have a plexiglass cover over it with a nice blue neon in there...looks like I got some more work to do now...thanks....
LOL
Vince, I saw your MSN name and right away came on here to see the pics.

If you knew how much he drove the car functionality is not a major thing lmao
and ya vince msg me on msn or call my cell tonight all my parts are on for the show so let me know about saturday
God I wish I had your interior!!!! Well the car looks great man.
I like the idea. but then your always hitting your arm on the controls. what I would do is recess the unit about an inch and put a plexy glass door or slider over top of it, flush with the armrest. that way its still comfortable and still has the same functionality. Thats my personal opinion but awsome job and great idea!

am I the only one who thinks that looks awful? I guess so. Oh well, To each his own.

I think its a good idea, but it jsut sorta looks stuck on there. Has potential to be great but I'm not feelign it yet

that makes you a pedafile, and I'm not gonna stand here and argue

Looks good, but should be recessed for better use of space and functionality.
