My mid-life crisis car...
Sunday, August 30, 2009 2:06 PM
I took some pics to post of my car. This ha become my "mid-life crisis" car. Here are the few mods I've done so far... AIT Racing hood, new headlights with clear turnsignal lenses, stealth turnsignal bulbs, Luminics headlight and foglight bulbs, RKSport Pro Stock spoiler, Euro talights with hyper white back-up bulbs, GTS Aero wing, full window tint, blue domelight and maplight bulbs, blue LED under-dash lights, clear blue HVAC knobs, and a Weapon R Dragon Air intake. I plan on lowering it in the spring with a full Eibach Pro kit, including a new front and rear sway bar. Also installing urethane control arm bushing and all new strut mounts. I may get a Magnalow cat-back exhaust system. I'm also planning on new wheels, 17 or 18 inch, I haven't decided yet. null

Tails and wing kill it for me.

The rest of the car is too plain for that wing to work imo.

Too much randomness

The front is sex, like said about the tails and wing don't fit the car right now. Also the spoiler or whatever it is over the back window. A good start though.

the wing looks dumb.

you would have to throw some wild bumpers and skirts do make that look good.
lose the inner tails...
wheels...
and i hope your gonna get some KYB agx's or Koni yellows to go with that Pro Kit...cause you didnt list it.
also lose the plastic "defuser" or whatever its called on the rear window.

sorry but i lost it when i saw the wing + TAILS + the rear windshield deflector thing. not a HUGE fan of the hood, but its not as bad as the tails....

BUT.... as long as you like what you've done than i good for you!

Not feelin' the hood/wing/inners. Should've lowered it first thing IMO.

Stupid economy. Your supossed to by a mustang or corvette or porshe or maybe a harley for you mid life crisis. Not a $4k cavalier.

+1 on tails, hood, back windshield thingy, ride height.

I appreciate all the comments. This is sorta' the look I'm going for. null I went with the AIT hood because I like the look of the dual hood scoops. And as far as the "rear window thingy", I went with that because the dot matrix on the inside of the window makes the tint look like crap across the top.

Tips, ideas, and opinions are fine, but I don't think insults are really necessary.

yeah it does look a little like it was randomly put together, the tails dont match the wing is way to agressive for the style you have.........the hood im on the fence with....Front end looks pretty good, but the rear is all over the place.

but i am sure it will look great when all finished, I had done some things to my car that was pretty random, thought they would turn out but it was quite the opposite....I wasted a lot of money before i got to the point that i am at right now

Continue on man have fun

I have hated those tails since they came out. They are horrible. I suggest 95-02 tails and rksport bezel.

The wing like said before is a bit much but the tails are the big breaker.

U can do better with out the wing.. looks to big to be on the back.. not feeling it at all. the tail lights are so so. been better off the way the tail lights came just the normal red color..over all the car is nice!

I'd just ditch the hood, wing, rear deflector, and rear tails... other than that it's a nice cav.

If you wanna keep running with the current look, I'd suggest under body neons, type-r seat covers, and maybe a type-r steering wheel cover. Maybe a monster tach?

Live it up man.

Yeah, that happens here. You learn to ignore it. Just remember that most people are less than half your age here, and you get the level of thinking most people here are at (Why generation thinking - just turn on the TV)

As for suggestions, I have to go with the crowd and say the tails have got to go. As for the rear wing, it could flow well with an aftermarket body or lip kit. I think the Type J kit would fit the bill. It's aftermarket, but unlike the generic kits from other manufacturers, it flows pretty well with the cars body lines, and would go well with the other body parts you've installed. Don't forget the go fast bits!

The front end looks good, and the smoke solar wing doen't bother me, but the inner tails IMO are horrible, and that wing is definitely too much for the car. If you're going to stick with the factory bumpers and side skirts, you need a more subtle spoiler.

Overall if those things are addressed, the car will come together nicely when it's lowered. Just make sure you go with a good set of lowering struts as mentioned above.

Sorry man, ok usually not a douche like that, I figured someone was going to say it eventually... Drop it, 00-02 trunk and older tails, wheels and you'll have a clean car. Just the current mix of tails, hood, and wing aren't doing it for me, but it's also not my car... Haha, just have fun with it man, and sorry for the previous comment.

Hopefully you don't take this the wrong way, but...

It seems that almost every time I see an older person modify a "tuner" car, the same thing happens. They buy anything and everything they can find, slap it on and expect it to look good. It's usually not well thought out and comes off looking very choppy. Not saying this is the rule...just the norm.

Body mods before rims and drop usually doesn't work well and this car's no exception. The altezza's look hideous and that wing is ri-donk-u-lous. Sorry to say it, but I think you wasted a whole lot of money and now need to back-track

imo. remove wing and tails, replace with 00-02 outer tails/sunfire sedan trunk bezel-paint matched and stock 03-05 spoiler. then drop it and your good to go

Hey no problem. Everyone could use a little douche once in a while. But seriously... This car is a work in progress. As far as lowering it, that's my plan. The Eibach kit I'm lookin' at comes with struts. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EIB-3860-680/?image=large And if it doesn't come with them anymore then I'm going with Tokico HP's. As far as appearance, side skirts are also something I'm considering. These http://www.customautotrim.com/bodykits/extreme-dimensions/chevy/cavalier/2003-2005/100423/ or these http://www.vipautowerks.com/9504-chevrolet-cavalier-coupe-flex-fiber-kmax-side-skirts-pair-p-710.html. A new rear bumper kit is a possibility too. Now about the tails... I don't care for the chrome around the reverse lights, but other than that, I like 'em. I absolutley hated the wrap around red look of the stockers. And that streched out bow tie... WTF? And my wing.... Don't be a hater 'cause mine's bigger than yours... What can I say? I like it. It doesn't look outrageous in person. Maybe the pics make it look out of place. I do appreciate the positive feedback, I'm always open to new ideas. And lastly, as opinions go, rermember... Opinions are like a**holes, every-body's got one, but the majority of people aren't interested in yours.
