ok so ive been on this forum for a lil while and i bought this cav for 900 bucks it was aready painted flat black . @!#$ job i know im gonna paint it gloss black after i do all the body work and get it done right. i had a post on here for wat color a new flat black or gloss and im gonna do the gloss but wat do u guys think a good buy? and btw i would love to drop it but around here it would be a bad idea. so wat do u guys think i should do with it? i have the no hows for cars so im not a complete noob
Lose wing, get coil-overs so you have adjustability, paint gloss black, then take better pictures. Done
keep the wing. to each his own. i like it so far, just needs paint.
thanks :] yea im not sure wat do do with the wing i guess ill deside when i get the car done for right now it can stay on cuz its too cold out to fill the holes in plus i dont got a place to put it in to work on it it so i gotta wait till spring to do anything :[ unless some one around here would be nice enough to let me use theirs and its heated then thats an other story
Wheels need repainted or cleaned badly. Wing is up to you. Not my style but if taking it off isnt worth the effort then just leave it.
It looks like those tires may not be the right size for those rims too. The sidewall is kinda low and that makes the 4x4 stance look worse.
Slap some 4x4 stickers on it and it's good to go.
For $900 you have a good start, it has rims, and a body kit. Pretty good pickup.

FOR SALE
for what you paid, looks like a solid car. But if it runs decent, doesn't knock, shifts fine, I'd say you got a good buy there.
...
it runs great :] (knock on wood) just got it inspected so its all good . got the winter tires on it now but yea def rims need a new paint job. needs some body work . tomarrow ill take some pics and show u guys wat it needs down after the body work put some new paint on it i just freaking cant make up my mind wat color to paint it .. i was thinking with with a lil bit of silver metal flake or just goss black with some green flake ..i did my truck a while back . did the gloss black with the moster logos it was def an offroad beast i loved it. but i fliped it twice and hit a dam tree upside down : (
The front bumper doesn't flow with the rest of the car, and the wing is ridiculous. If you could ditch the kit you could lower it without having to worry. Just my opinion though.
thanks i dont mind the kit the rear isnt gonna come off ....... its been molded inside out . no way unless u plan on doing sume cutting and pfft its not worth the time. ill just improve what i have. make it a nice winter beater or something. tooooo many deer around here to have something too nice .
Unless ur gonna lower it ditch the rims kit and wing or it'll look stupid for its entirety. So either get coilovers or put it back to stock before you listen to ricer for the rest of your life. I understand the area you're in may not have the proper terrain for lowering a vehicle, but you need to remember there are different height drops and not all of 'em are ridiculous. And at the same time as long as you're not driving like an idiot and like it should be a 4x4 there's no reason you cannot lower it. I live in an area that isn't the best for lowered ride heights and 75% of the modified car scene in my area including myself are still lowered. One's slammed like 2-3 cm off the ground. They have no problem everyday, nor should you. Do it right or don't do it at all.
Nice pick up for $900 as long as there's nothin wrong with the motor and nothing overly wrong with the entire car itself.

what coilovers are good to get? trust me it kinda bugs me with the nice big 4x4 space i got going on lol

you would fox....
not a bad pickup for $900, but damnit, its ugly. Ugly kit, tacky wing, beat up looking rims... I'd say go IF or Z kit, nicer rims, wingless, air-ride...

Im no expert on coilovers so I'll let the experts answer that one, but as far as I know stay away from cheap ebay ones. And stay away from sleeves. You want the full coilover sets. And they're pricey
the rims are'nt that bad from what i can see(better than steelies and hubs-trust me), like everyone else has said lose the wing please, it's ok if u like it but seriously lose it, and then paint it SATIN black.

For coilovers there are a lot of options available. Many people around here like the tiens though which seem to be a pretty solid product.
I have no experience with coilovers on cavaliers since I just went with springs and dampers and said screw adjustable ride height. However I know like stated above to stay away from the cheap ebay kits. I know that the KW's are good but expensive, some people have used gravana coilovers, STD even has a product, but many people use the tein ss coilovers. Also, I know some people have used sleeved kits that were pretty good. I think it was the ground controls with koni's that were good ones. Just my $.02 take it or leave it
thanks guys . yea it needs work act the rims are dirty but they are pretty nice. can you just buy lowering springs and call it a day? haha im used to putting lift kits on not the otherway around.
pat w. wrote:. can you just buy lowering springs and call it a day?
In short, no. You will blow your struts and your car will not be functional or safe. With lowering springs you need to buy struts capable of handling a drop. There is plenty of information in the suspension forums about this.
Do it once, and do it right. You can't go wrong...
ok ill check them out. thanks bud.

I would what? Besides, YOU HATE BODY KITS anyways. but im not going to say an IF, LSS wing, Air-ride and nicer wheels with paint wouldn't be damn sexy...cause that would pwn.
1. don't take off the spolier if you dont want to, they look sick if you get the right one
2. don't try to lower the car with out the right struts don't want the OEM ones to blow out on you, nor do you want the horribad ride
if you do anything do it right and don't half ass it, trust me learned from experence here if you think its worth doing do it well
lol im not a noob noob i dont know much bout cavs but i know ton on trucks and some cars i dont half ass my jobs give me a truck and ull be amazed. haha i like u fox evey post ur in u differ from everyones 2 cents lmao wtg . lol but i wish i could do some progress on it but i cant till the spring plus being on unemployment sucks balls. i wouldnt mind just fixing it up nice and selling it and get a truck again : (
what is the engine, 2.2 ohv or 2.4 dohc?
and if droping it around there wont work out to well like in this area, get an air ride if you just care about looks and not performance little bit more expensive but there are a lot of people on this form with bagged cavaliers that are BA
and your already a step ahead of most of us, you have a body kit, or at least a front bumper lol
are those ADR dv-8's?
I havent seen those in a LONG time
Damn where those things heavy as hell
