Hey guys. Long story short. I got MandH slicks and put them on the car and took a quick spin out my road. Well i didn't turn out so quick.. I did a little launch from 1st hit 2nd and then on top of 3rd gear boom... Not sure what happened!!!! Maybe the stock sleeve didn't like the 42?whp.... I don't now if I should part out and sell the car or build another motor with Darton sleeves..
sucks to hear but if you do part im interested in alot lol....
Damn

hmm pmd u dibs on the bad motor and all associated boost parts lol just in time for my eco swap build.
I didn't say I was parting it. I said I don't know what to do. If I should part it or build another motor.. Thanks though.. WOW zyaaaa I totally lost respect for you.. You think it is funny that my motor blew??? I never ever said anything about a ecotec motor being better than any athere motor!! And I don't recall ever doing anything to you for you to act this way to me!! I don't care if it is the internet or not. You really are a tool.. I don't miss this forum at all. I get tired of people like you that think they are better than everyone else..
fix it up!
good luck and keep us updated.
i think zyaaa was just bashing on the "ecotec" engine. not the fact your motor had came a part. basically stabbing at the engine design and accidently hitting you instead.
He is one of the firm believers that ld9 iron blocks (non sleeved) are better and more capable than ecotecs (sleeved).
I also think that a steel block like th ld9 is better than the ecotec design...

that does suck that your motor blew... i'd do what Jeffie said and build it harder better faster stronger.
The LD9 has a cast iron block, not steel...
dang thats horrible. but i vote rebuild! give u a reason to get more out of it!
That is one of the better engine destructions that I have seen. Good job.
lol, nice. looked like mine..
i say take what you can get and get a golden eagle block, already sleeved.

yeah man, this is right. i didnt mean to stab at your misfortune.
sorry about the engine.
if ya think about it brad, we don't have to do all the little extra bull@!#$ an ld9 needs to get 400 whp. rods, pistons and valve springs and done. No working over the pcv system, swapping oil pumps, custom oil pans or that crap.. dollar for dollar an eco is cheaper to build...
I got irritated at your comment to, it was uncalled for. I've always respected you, and that right there was not needed.
poster - build it over time, it will be a fun adventure

damn 42? HP did that on launch.....ouch well i got a good idea of what might happen to mine........just curious thou how was tune on this car ? possibly leaned out some at launch ??
really sorry to hear about the motor man but i gotta agree with statements above that you should rebuild it alot stronger
good luck with whatever you do
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
my god people it was a shameless plug to ryle you ecotec boys up. we do it all the time to each other!
i had no intention of making it sound/look like i didnt care. ive had engines blow up on me too, it sucks ass. especially ones you've put your heart and soul into.
either way... post has been edited.
have a nice day.
Well thanks everyone... The car was dyno tuned and had zero knock... As far as I know the air fuel was fine. I do know one thing launching the car on slicks was f-en sick!!!!! All I could do was hold on tight to the steering wheel and hope my seat doesn't break!!LOL The car didn't spin 1st 2nd or 3rd it was unreal!! Im not sure if the injector quit or I had and air leak around the injector cup or maybe the sleeve had enough...???? I have an extra block here but don't know if I want to use the stock sleeves again????? And Im searching for parts now and trying to save as much money as possible..
Build it!!!
Project Resurrection is in full swing!
Were you pulling any logs when doing this? I would really pay close attention to you afr's... with a sleeve blown apart that bad it really looks like there was a detonation issue to me.
I've also got a Cobalt SS/SC besides my Cavy and know quite a few guys running the LSJ blocks with turbos pushing 450+ with nothing but pistons and they have not experienced sleeve issues. With that being said though anything can happen so maybe nothing at all was wrong and it just decided to come apart. If it were me I would probably build the spare block leaving the stock sleeves and continue to have fun
Ecotecs blocks are a dime a dozen nowadays anyways.
