I wanted to put a new shift knob in my '03 Manual Sunfire, but I've tried two different knobs that were said to be for Sunfires and they didn't work. Reason being because there is that little knob you have to pull up to put it in reverse. Does anyone know where I can get one that will fit perfect? Thanks

I am pretty sure thats just a lock mechanisim that you can take off, and then your @!#$ knob will work and you don't need to pull up to go to R.....

how to do it.. search... i'm not too sure... but I know thats what you do and it can be done...

If you have the money I'd go for a B&M short shifter. It's a completely new shifter and has the collar on it too. I want to get one this summer. They're about $140. I don't know if they make them for '03s. I have an '02 and they make 'em. Good luck finding one though.

and if you want the lockout off, pull hard and twist on the knob to take it off......unsnap the shift boot and pull the lockout off, it just pulls out.......if you do that the boot will have nowhere to secure at so it will slide around and be annoying, best thing to do is push it down the stick as far as it can go, exposing the shift stick, and polishing the stick, that looks nice

Ichiban makes a shift knob that will work with the reverse lockout. You can find Ichiban at any local parts shop more than likely. Hell, I bought mine at a Circuit City. When you buy it, it should say "reverse lockout compatable" somewhere on the package. Happy hunting.
