To each is own. Some like it for looks, which they do look good if you get one that flows well with the vehicle. Also, they do serve a slight purpose, they help in turns a bit but that's about it...I guess it's more useful for the AutoX guys.

Bamacav98, the Pro-Stock wing looks nice but in my opinion looks better if your car has a kit or if your car is slammed with other things to flow with it.

Would you mind backing this up with some logic?

Try to be detailed so we can really make you look retarded by pointing out all the reasons you're wrong.

Its purly cosmetic but who cares they still look good. Thats what there there for.

Internet Source wrote:A spoiler is an aerodynamic device attached to an automobile to decrease lift, decrease drag, or increase the amount of force pushing the vehicle's tires to the road surface (also called downforce). Spoilers are often fitted to race and high-performance sports cars, although they have become common on passenger vehicles, as well. Some spoilers are added to cars primarily for styling purposes and have little or negative aerodynamic impact.

In my opinion that spoiler is horribly ugly

non stock spoilers are ugly and 99.9% of them either do nothing for downforce or negate the entire consept.

and WW, that has to be one of the dumbest post ive ever read from you, usually your quite 'not full of sht' as we say on the jbo. wings are just for looks, nothing more. what tim said was, retarded in a way yes. but you cant prove him wrong with trying to tell him a decoration is an useful object.

^^A decoration is useful, as eye candy.

no decoratoin is useful, only provides us with something to distract us from the big black man raping us daily.

Might not be usefull, but the car looks better and complete with it on. I got the small OEM wing on my 97 Cav.

i hear cardboard is great too

i think what tim meant was that people consider spoilers dumb cause technically you add them to rwd cars for down force.......give the guy a break

I wasn't giving any advice on any particular spoilers and know full well that most of the ones people put on (my own likely included) don't really do anything functional.

This, however, has nothing to do with whether the car is FWD or not, and that's the part of his post I was ready to rip into, had he come back to expand on what he now states is an opinion.

Saying "spoilers are dumb on FWD cars" is not an opinion. That is a statement of fact, and an ignorant and incorrect one at that. If he had said "IMO, FWD cars don't need spoilers" then we could explain to him how flawed his opinion is, but that's not what he said.

I'm assuming he went and did some book-learnin' and realized how dumb his comment was, and then came and tried to pass it off as an opinion.

This is how misinformation gets spread.

So, for the record, spoilers are every bit as useful to a FWD car as they are to a RWD car in pretty much every aspect with the exception of hard straight-line acceleration and even then it can be quite useful for stability.

if you make a comment about something being dumb, it's never a fact. what kinda "FACT" have you ever heard that is calling something dumb. saying something is dumb is an opinion no matter how it's worded.

and thats just my opinion.

stick with a stock spoiler the look the best
Re: Spoiler

yeah... theres no disadvantage of having a spoiler on a fwd car... it just wouldn't show as much benefit as it would on a rwd car.. anyone correct me if im wrong.

in a straight line (which most people are into) dragracing, a wing would press the back down and if high powered enough car at the speeds downforce would take effect could make traction loss and aerodynamic loss.

now sure in a autox it might be useful to a small degree but the extra weight and drag would most likely make it useless on most cars.

so what tim said, himself knowing it or not, or opinion or not has truth behind it.
