After seeing 1CAV2NV's sweet ride burn to a crisp, i've decided to buy a fire extinguisher. anyone have any pictures of where they mounted it?
^^^or you could spend 30 bucks and be safe.
1CAV2NV's car was a wake up call of a sort i plan on buying one soon.
i would say you can mount it anywhere imho, but the A-piller
$30 for a 30 secs or safety. your choice i guess.
same thing almost happened to my car, i had smoke coming from the dash and all i thought of was the gti video that went up in flames. nothin' happened but the rear defroster doesnt work anymore so i think something shorted out. i got one now though

mount it somewhere you have easy access too
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
why not mount it in trunk if anything starts on fire it will most likely start from the front. or behind one of the seats or on the metal underneath the back seat

thats a good question cuz its not mounted lol. it just sits on my back seat
my ex has his mounted on the passenger a-pillar. it's within easy reach, and it's not blocking his view.

I highly recommend against mounting to the a-pillar's.
It's a big, heavy, chunk of steel. That's the last thing you want becoming a projectile at head-level in a collision!
Ricers put them on the pillar. I recommend the trunk or somewhere secure on the floor.

Pretty much, mount it in the trunk or on the floor behind the driver seat. If you put it on the passenger A pillar, when a passenger hits it in a wreck, there head will split open like a ripe melon. Of mount it on your side so in a wreck your head splits open like a ripe melon.
Also dont buy the crappy APC fire extinguisher. Get a real one that uses Carbon Dioxide to put out flames....last thing you want is an electrical fire and your putting it out with something else.

Good point. I've also heard of them not working at all when they're needed.
You probably want to buy a fire extinguisher from a company that makes fire extinguishers. Not one that makes LED tail pipes.
if u dont move ur seat alot u can mount it right infront of ur seat. Easy to reach and u always now where its at

Dont mount it infront of you....if the thing breaks loose, you have something that can lodge behind your brake pedal. Just mount it behind you..
Honestly if there is a fire IN the car...im making sure I get out before I worry about getting to the extinguisher. So mounting it behind you isnt a big deal. Its also out the way.
true didn't think of that
Well im against the ghetto fire extinguisher thing, But you could mount it in the back on the hump on the floor or directly on the back on the center consoul.

i think i would rather have a ghetto fire extinguisher then a ghetto burnt car from a short that could be put out.

Excellent advice. I've been a volunteer firefighter for a long time and I recommend against buying ANY fire extinguisher (car or home) that has a plastic valve/head. They tend to bleed off fairly quickly over time and are notorious for not having enough pressure left to get the job done if/when needed.
I haven't gotten mine yet, but I'm going with a small (2-1/2 lb.) unit from a known/reputable company such as Amerex (they provide a vehicle mounting bracket like most companies do) and mounting it to the back edge of the trunk lid so as not to weigh the lid down too much. I figure mounting it there will get me out of the car ASAP (EXTREMELY important first step
) and will allow me to be at the back of the car looking ahead to judge safely if the fire is worth fighting or not with my available resources.

BEST ADVICE EVER!!!
Put it there so it gets ur mind set to get out the car and to the back (where the fire is least likely to be) and judge if its worth fighting or not!
^^^Thanks, man. I dun been trained well.
