those trucks are hottt
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
I agree. I want to build a mini in a similiar fashion, Killer clean frame and air setup, nice wheels, @!#$ body and interior! Beaut.
I have a 69 in my garage that is stripped down to its frame and im not sure what direction to go with it. I think having it body dropped and layed frame would be pretty cool.

A traditional truck is not a rat rod.
Wikipedia wrote:A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most cases, imitates (or exaggerates) the early hot rods of the 40s, 50s, and 60s. It is not to be confused with the somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod from the same era.
Most rat rods appear "unfinished" (whether they actually are or are not), with just the bare essentials to be driven.
The rat rod is the visualization of the idea of function over form. Rat rods are meant to be driven, not shown off. Sometimes the customization will include using spare parts, or parts from another car altogether.

I stand corrected...I still think the trucks looks sick in the finished and unfinished way.
"Remember do what you like because you have to drive it."--Me
i have a 67 and a 70 both have the 67 front end i love it
my kill list:a geo metro and a mac semi wow did i kill that thing
I know a dude that has one just like the white one without the logo on the door, and a 400 HP Edelbrock crate engine in it. Looks and sounds like any other beater truck, but you can light up the tires at half throttle.
If this post makes no sense, well, that's what you get for having a board I can post on at 5 AM after 12 straight hours of work.

lol its always been a dream to pick up an old POS truck or car with rust holes the size of my fists and dents all over it and just lay frame and drop the biggest, badest engine i can fit in it..... dreams
Now's the time to pick up a 67-72 chevy swb while they're still pretty cheap and original parts are still plentiful. I picked up a 71 4x4 a few months ago for my next project

x2. there are a few local to me and a few at automotion in the dells too.
It depends on your definition of "Rat Rod". If, like most people, you mean a Pre-50's car with an emphasis on speed over looks, then yeah, definitely. If, like some really hardcore rat-rodders, that the car is also only built using vintage parts as well, then no, I'm not a fan. Too much awesome technology out there to limit yourself to stuff that was made in or before the 40's.
I'd love to have a 32 Ford coupe with a turbo'd eco in it

I love Rat Rods and Gassers.
Old technology ain't bad, as long as it's useful. Obviously a street car should have modern-ish brakes and transmission, but everything else looks better when it's retro. Those trucks were nice except for the big giant wheels that look completely out of place on them. Fat tires with tall sidewalls and deep dish wheels look best on old iron.
my definition of a 'rat rod' is an unfinished purposely built to look like crap and function over form.
my definition of a 'retro rod' is basically a finished 'rat rod' that looks like it was meant to be shown off like a 'show car' but with the old style look.
the rusted out 67 fits my definition of a 'rat rod'. everything else to me is a 'retro-rod'.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
a true rat rod would be my dream car. When I finally get a garage that's going to be one of my projects
