i just hate how the car reminds me of a rc car in the wheel wells.. seems to look like your looking through the car.. i dunno why that is.. probably the smaller wheels. whats the bolt pattern on those btw?
anyway not bad, why not get winter tires instead of all-seasons? best investment i've made towards my car. tires were $380 shipped
The bolt pattern is 5 x 114.3.
I discussed whether to get winter tires or all season tires with the guy that owns the shop where I purchased the tires. He said he would suggest all season tires because around here we typically don't get too much snow and when the roads are dry or just wet the winter tires will wear down much faster than the all seasons will. I always drove the Sunfires with all season tires and never had a problem. We have had some pretty good snow and a little ice already this past week and the tires did fine. I could barely get it to fishtail or anything on purpose even. I'm happy with them. I am more concerned with keeping the 18s nice than I am with the tires.
Should get a can of rust check and spray em down. Cause the black steel wheels i find rust easy in @!#$ty salty weather. Thats what I do.

Well, they're in excellent shape now since they're practically brand new so I am not going to worry about painting them until they come off in the spring. The Vibe will be getting hand washed every week no matter the weather, so hopefully keeping the salt off of them will help keep them looking nice longer.
Ah i see. Yeah I am in Newfoundland and winters suck here. Plus I put my hose away this time of year to keep it from freezing. But she's just the winter beater too so.

My mantra for washing my cars in the winter has always been, "If the outside faucet isn't frozen, it's warm enough to hand wash the car in the driveway!" Once the outside faucet freezes though, I'll just take it to the car wash and hand wash it in one of the self serve bays at an off time of day. I plan on driving this thing into the ground, but I would like to keep it looking good for as many of those years as possible.
I should really look into getting some winter wheels. I'm still riding on my stock Aero wheels - 17 inches, thin tire, and wide - not exactly a performer in snow
Hoping the SAAB's ESP is all its cracked up to be! Anyway, even with winter wheels I'm a big fan of the Vibe
Yes, like I said, my mom and I (she has an '09 Vibe GT too) both wanted winter wheels and tires to save our gorgeous factory 18s from the salt and other junk that appears on the roads during the winter. It is definitely a good investment and one I highly recommend, especially when I walk into the garage and see both Vibes' steelies so covered with salt that they're almost white.
Thanks for the kind words Zenith! Much love (and admiration) for your SAAB
!
Seriously, All seasons for winter? who talked you into THAT??
I can see justifying running on all seasons that you ALREADY HAVE. But you bought all seasons for winter, AND have a nice set of summers on rims? I fail to see the thinking there, winter tires aren't just for snow.
All seasons rubber gets hard and fails to 'stick to the pavement' around -8 C, Winters get hard around -40C. What you have is a poor tread in snow and sh!tty grip in cold temps.
Whatever floats your boat, but it sounds like an idiot tire salesman parted a fool and his money.
I like it on steelies though!

Personally, I have
never had a problem with all season tires in the winter. It very rarely ever gets below 0 here in Illinois and it doesn't take long to get the roads cleared and covered with salt and sand, so again, I didn't choose the all seasons simply based on what the tire guy said, I chose them from past personal experience and the typical road conditions for my area. I do appreciate your input though and I thank you for your comment about liking it on steelies
.

I'm not totally fond of them either

Well, I didn't get around to washing my Vibe today, but I did do a full exterior detail on my mom's. It was warm enough so I hand washed it in the driveway and than put a coat of Nu Finish Scratch Doctor followed by a coat of Mother's Caranuba wax. I decided not to worry about mine because hers was way dirtier. It looked like it was trying to make itself silver like mine
. Tomorrow I am going to detail her interior (ran out of time today) and hopefully next weekend I can get mine washed and waxed.
Hers is exactly the same as mine, minus the color obviously. It's Steel Blue Metallic. It's a bluish purplish color. It looks absolutely amazing when it's all nice and clean. I almost got this exact one, but decided last minute I wanted to stick with silver. It has Silver Star bulbs in the head and fog lights, de-badged hatch, GM floor and cargo mats, a silver "genvibe.com" sticker on the hatch glass and an aFe Pro Dry S drop in filter (she didn't want the K&N intake because "it's too loud"
. She loves it as much as I love mine!
I love the Steel Blue Metallic color. Reminds me of the Nocturn Blue Metallic on the new SAABs except lighter. Silver is great for hiding dirt and small blemishes though!
Nice..
I have always liked the fact you take such pride in the small things. Keep havin fun with it!

Yeah, I am jealous of hers when it's all nice and clean because the color pops so much more than the silver, but like you said, I love the fact that silver hides all the little imperfections.

Thanks! Believe you me I will definitely continue having fun with it for many years to come
!
Both Vibes are looking good! Sure winter mode isn't the most attractive mode but the important thing is you are keeping your good wheels pristine. I think your all season tires will do just fine, in my 11 years of canadian prarie winter driving I've never once had a set of winter specific tires and all is well.
Major thumbs up for maintaining the cleanliness of you and your mom's cars! Taking care of them like that will keep them looking great for years to come. Most people I know wash their cars once in the fall, then its good until may! Drives me freakin nuts. Anyway keep up the good work, hopefully when my car is back to one color and clean you will like it again too haha!!
Thanks Chris! You know I always appreciate your comments
. Yes, I will be washing them at the very least once a week and waxing them at least once a month during the winter (same washing and waxing schedule as during the spring and summer). I want to keep on top of the exterior because the Vibes are notorious for having @!#$ty Toyota paintjobs
. I definitely want to do everything I can to avoid chips, etc. especially on the front end.
As far as your car is concerned, it's not that I don't like the new look, it's just that I definitely preferred the 'fire front end. I know anything you will do will be clean and will look great. I always have and will always be a fan of your Sunfire
.

It definitely isn't going to happen this winter.
If we get them, these are the
only ones I will put on the Vibes and they are expensive and very hard to find in good condition.
