Pretty common actually. Specially for the LS1 swaps. Its an easy bolt up with very few modifications yet holds the power well. Its not the best diff in a CTS. However, they're pushing a hell of a lot more car around then what a miata weights. Makes it a great alternative. I wish the alternatives were as easy for transmissions. That seems to be the limiting factor right now with stock motors. Most people just keep a spare transmission on hand. A few have swapped to the RX7 TII transmissions but requires a custom made adapter. Thats a whole other story though.

I should probably love it, but I don't... I look at the Miata as a handling car, like the Elise. Making it a big horsepower drag car just doesn't impress me as much.

Now I know you'll say the same could be applied to pushing 400-500hp out of a J-Body, so I'll just shut up now before I anger the Mazda Gods

I agree and disagree with you at the same time.

This month, we've seen some pretty amazing drag racing machines already, but what we haven't really seen yet is a really cool street tuned drag car. This Roadster definitely checks off all the right street car boxes. It is pretty rare to see a car designed to be a groin-pleaser in the corners be built up to do the same, but in a totally different discipline.

It tells us the story of its drag life and does a brief mention on how well it handles. So there is no telling how well it can or can't do in the twisties. I see where you're coming from, with that wheel setup its not going to do very well. Doesn't mean he doesn't have a good set of wheels for track days. Really can't say either way. I know the LS1 guys are still doing well on track days. So its very possible for the RB25 to be the same way. Since there really hasn't been any RB25 swaps it would just become an endless debate with no one being right or wrong.

Cool, but in the end its still your opinion.

It can be said for so many cars it doesn't really matter anymore. People say that all the time whether its a J, civic, integra, cobalt, 240, mustang, camaro.

They are are just cars in the end no matter how much money you throw into them. I would rather spend that money on my kids college or a house.

Once they released a kit for the LSx it became pretty popular swap. An LSx swapped miata will run 11's. You gotta change out the rear end though because the stock rear end wont handle the power. The CTS rear end though fits nicely.

Not to shabby indeed.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.
"Run! He's fuzzy!" "Get outta here!"
