Once again DCX sticks the truck grill on a car. I mean it worked on the Magnum but it hasn't on anything else. Would someone tell them to stop it already....please. I don't like it. I don't know whats worse, the Durango tail lights or the truck version of the cross hair grill.

WTF? They're dropping a short-lived very respectable and quick car for this POS?
If I wanted a magnum i'd buy a magnum. I thought Dodge was doing good until they made this move.
I know they'll come out with some SRT Version of this car. SRT has pretty much touched every Dodge/Chrysler car and this will probably be one.
I want an SRT-7 Van! That would be a sweet idea

The Caliber was listed as a model to be introduced at the Chicago Auto Show. This photo was sent to us, but we have not yet heard anything from Chrysler.
Earlier, the rumor mill suggested that the next-generation Neon would be called the Dodge Rebel. We suspect that Caliber will be the name for the wagon version, while the sporty sedan will be the Rebel. It is also possible that the Caliber is a name to be used only in auto shows.
We could of course be wrong about this. Three German publications have already said that the Dodge Caliber would be the four-door sedan that introduces Europe to the Dodge brand in March, 2005. One published sketches that look remarkably like the above vehicle, which itself looks like the Avenger concept.
With a two-door, four-door, and wagon version, there are three possible names...
For a long time, it has been thought that a wagon (let's call it the Dodge Caliber) will come first, followed by a sedan, in Magnum-Charger fashion. The sedan will, according to Mark Stehrenberger drawings, be Charger-like, while the roadster and wagon will be more like the Razor concept.
The Dodge Caliber engines will most likely be the 1.8 in Europe, the 2.4 (170 horsepower) in the US, and the 2.0 in both regions. A 235 horsepower turbocharged 2.4 is quite likely in an SRT version. These are all variants of the The Dodge Rebel's (we're going to use the name until Chrysler announces something) engines will run from the 1.8 (probably only used outside North America) to a 235 horsepower turbo-2.4 in the SRT-4 version. The 2.4 liter naturally aspirated version will be quite potent with 170 horsepower - that's an estimate from Chrysler. All four cylinder engines will be the new world engine. We'd suspect a diesel, at least in Europe.
One German source suggested that the engines would start at 1.4 liters in Europe, presumably for tax reasons.
The Dodge Caliber and next-generation Mitsubishi Lancer are being designed jointly by Chrysler and Mitsubishi engineers. For details, see the Dodge Rebel (?) page.
A Chrysler variant with PT styling is likely to be sold as the PT Cruiser. (They wouldn't call it the Chrysler Caliber, would they?)
More when we learn more...

Chrysler still has not announced a name for its Neon replacement, but Razor won't be used. We thought Rebel would be a good name with "Mopar roots." It's due to be shown for the first time in March 2005.
Three German publications have said that the Dodge Caliber (same car, different name) would be the small, Mitsubishi-platform four-door sedan that introduces Europe to the Dodge brand in March, 2005.
According to an Austrian paper, at least three variants are planned. First will come a sport-wagon, á la Spectra5 or Mazda3 (more precisely, Dodge Avenger concept), then a sedan, then a roadster. Drawings by Mark Stehrenberger suggest a Razor-style front end on both the roadster and sport-wagon, while the sedan would be more Charger-like. The roadster looks very similar to the Razor itself, though this may simply be Mark's guessing based on available clues. Rumor has it that the sport-wagon, at least, might be called the Dodge Caliber.
The Dodge Rebel's (we're going to use the name until Chrysler announces something) engines will run from the 1.8 (probably only used outside North America) to a 235 horsepower turbo-2.4 in the SRT-4 version. The 2.4 liter naturally aspirated version will be quite potent with 170 horsepower - that's an estimate from Chrysler. All four cylinder engines will be the new world engine jointly designed by Mitsubishi, Chrysler, and Hyundai, and built in Michigan (and Korea and Japan). There may be a hot optional engine, designed and built by Chrysler, not needing a turbocharger. A diesel will be available in Europe and, quite probably, in the US as well.
The Dodge Rebel will be built in Belvedere.
The Dodge Rebel is being designed by Chrysler and Mitsubishi engineers. While both are working together on a common platform, the final cars will be different in character. In North America and Europe, the Chrysler version will reportedly be used, even when sold under the Mitsubishi name. In Asia, the Middle East, and South America, the Mitsubishi version will reportedly be used, even when sold under the Dodge name. The Dodge and Mitsuibshi versions will have unique interiors and exteriors and different suspension tuning when sold in the same market.
The EVO will have a Dodge version, with extensive Chrysler involvement in engineering in the two door version. The four door will be primarily worked on by Mitsubishi engineers, though members of the Neon ACR team are helping them, thanks to their strong rally and SCCA success. (The Neon traces its pedigree back to the Shelby Dodges, partly through John Fernandez). Mitsubishi has been a strong rally car and their engineers are no slouches. We're not exactly sure, though, why Dodge and MMC have switched places on the Rebel - the Stratus/Sebring/Avenger coupes were pretty pure Mitsubishi.
An SUV version will be built, and may be sold as the Compass. PT styling will probably be transferred to this platform around calendar year 2006 for lower costs and better performance - and a V6.
