Simon (spydarfire) used the rear door handles off of a 4 door Neon and it looks great. plus, by using the rear handles, there's no key hole.
as far as who needs door handles, i know there are a lot of race tracks that won't let you race with shaved door handles, just in case you crash and they need to get you out of your car asap.
Well I am all about show and yeah I got the go happening right now, but I would rather show than race so I guess i would rather have shaved door handles and a racer would want door handles. It's cool either way
oh here we go again....i think in another post there was a long debate over selling your car with shaved handles.i think its
Of course you can sell your car with shaved handles.....To make a long case short....If someone is buying your car...they are fully aware its a customized car....Shaved door handles is going to be the least of their concerns.
and btw, Itsn't there a stock car that comes with shaved handles.....i believe its a corvette or something...like i said don't quote me on that...but i know there is a car that has/had shaved door handles right from the factory.
My advice. Shave the handles....It will be just as much work as flush mount but it will look alot cooler in my mind..
Just my .02
Want HIDs? Check out the great deal Jbody.org has on HID kits www.hidynamic.com/groupbuy
shaved handles plus winter time = one hell of a time to try to get in the car !!!!!
hey i was walkin back from class and i saw this daewoo inthe parking lot... the door handles are flush mounted (stock) and look VERY similar to a fire!! does anyone have any info on whether or not they would work??
i wonder if beretta handles would be able to work? ive never looked to see how they work tho..
I'm trying out several different GM car door handles to see what works
I have a 99-whatever alero rear door handle that looks like it will work very well, however you def will have to cut into the door. Not sure on the mechanical compatibility either... I'll be posting about my findings when I make them.
stay tune
damn you pj why didnt you tell me that i was planning on doing this too we must chat my odd friend

spur of the moment ebay purchase
the handle I have is perfect tho... $18.95
ahh cheap GOOD mods beautiful thing =P
I'll prolly chop into the door this weekend
here's to a non functional passenger door for a lil while !!!
lenko did colt handles on his car
ok guys here ya go
the part number for this handle is
22615216 passenger rear outside door handle, requires to be painted to match.
22615217 driver rear outside door handle, requires to be painted to match.
its from a 99-04 alero and a 99-05 grand am rear door handle. it looks like this
again I'm not sure on the mechanics yet, but it should be fairly simple. Just remove old handles, cut a hole in the door where the old handle was, insert, rig up bam done.
I'd suggest getting the handles in the car and working before painting them that way you dont mess em up.
I'll keep updating this thread as I do it on my car.
...gonna be sweet
btw
go here to order them online... about $40 each handle with shipping
luckily i got one on ebay for 18 shipped =P
GM parts direct
my suspisions are correct... the handle mechanism looks to be a perfect match for what is already in the car.
the only thing I really have to do is chop out the door for the handle to fit. I'll be taking a LOT of pictures and I'll have a step by step
i have those handles lol i was actually talking to a friend about a month ago about doing this to his 98 z and i said the same thing you did pretty much
