Ok, I'm having this problem with my window trim, on the bottom of the windows. Is there anyway to fix it or will i need to get new pieces (its on the other side of the car too). Pics:

And by the way, that redness in the paint is just the reflection of my pants. Also ignore the 7 year old t-shirt...I just got up

I recommend having them repainted.

I'm on my second set now since I had them replaced under warranty and they're doing something similar.

It's a very common problem and, as far as I'm concerned, a GM defect that they refuse to remedy. They give you new ones until the warranty is up and then you're on your own.

One of two things happen with them. Either they ripple right across, or they develop bubbles. When they develop bubbles, like yours did, they end up bursting (or being rubbed off or something) leaving the white showing. When they ripple, they just look ugly, but at least they stay black!

Only a problem on the Sunfires since the Cav uses a flat black piece instead of the glossy one on the Sunfire. I don't think theirs have issues.

So I recommend getting them painted since if you get replacments, I gurantee you'll have issues with those ones too. Might as well at least take a shot at something better.

Got same problem on my Sunfire. I tried to remove mine to paint them, thought if I took out the screw in the end, they would slide right off, but they didn't. Do I have to remove the inner door panel to get them to come off?

The ones on the sunfires are originally powder coated, and believe it or not, older cavys are different. When I bought my car it was wrecked and we fixed it, well we got a door off of a 90 something cavy and the ones off of them are solid plastic rubber stuff (like our mirrors) the ones for sunfires are shiny-er sp? and almost like metal. I got the old one off the wrecked door for my car and I just had them re-powder coated They look really nice.
I can't remember how they come off, but I'll check it out tonight and see. I had my whole interior apart and my windows out to tint them, but I don't know if u have to do it like that or not?

I think you pretty much had it. Take the screw out of the end and them push it up and pull it back from under the mirror.

Do it with the window down. It's basically pinching the top edge of the door.

I can't remember if you have to take that black vertical plastic piece off first... you might... if you do, peel forward the weather stripping to reveal three screws. Take those out and the vertical piece comes off.

Mine were metal...sorry.. Ok there's one screw right above the door handle.. your window has to be down (of course) and then you just pull straight up on it from the back to the front..... there's little clips that hold it in place, I took my mirror off too.... it seemed to make it a little easier... hope this helps!!!!!

Its a Plastic coated Aluminum trim piece. The white fluff is the corrosion. You'll be sanding, and filling. Just replace em.
