I was looking into buying a new set of front and rear lights. I ljust bought a black '03 Cav LS Sport and I love everything about the car except for the rear lights. I saw a carbon fiber peice from RK Sport that once installed, would accept older style tails. I am going for a euro/rice look being that my other two cars are a '71 nova and a '94 25th anniversary trans am. My question is what is involved in installing the RK Sport piece (do I need an older style trunk?), and once installed, what are the best set of euro head and tail lights to buy??
The cf piece is supposed to be used on 03-05 cavys. You remove the big red reflector piece and replace it with the cf rk sport piece.
For headlights theres no aftermarkets pieces for us 03-05 cavys.

no new trunk is needed.. just buy any tails made for a cav from 95-05 and then you need the c/f brezle( i think thats how you spell it. then heres the only hard part lol. there is about 9 or 10 nuts holding that big piece of crap that chevy calls nices looking on. so there is like 3 per rev lights and i think 3 in the middle also.. then to do the sides there is 3 on each outer ones. don't forget to reamove the light bulbs. and on the outer ones you do have a small light bulb that i did not use as the tails i got did not have a spot for it . all you need to do is tuck it and hide it. then your done

euro/rice look greeaaattt........
Moms & Dads talk to your kids, before its too late, tell them to say no to aluminum wings.
I am making a custom rear tail, right now.
The middle reflector type area is being filled with LEDs. The right half of the rear will blink with the turn signal, same with the left.
And they will also activate with the brake lights.
I am thinking of doing a dragon design with the LED pattern, and they will also light up dimmer with the normal driving lights.
I will have a few pics later next week some time...
If this works out well, I will either make more for people and write up a tutorial for others that can do it themself.

thats odd i didnt know we had front tail lights...must be an '03 + thing
you could try reading the title of the thread again..
anyways I have an 03 as well and I havnt done the rear lights, but I made clear corners for the front.. its about a 2 hour job. really easy. not sure how legal it is where you are but some places police kick up a fuss about not having amber lights at the front.
all I did was buy some silverstar brites for my headlamp and the corner lights look more dull in comparasin, amber? no but distinguishable from the headlamp, yes
For real?? You can buy those bad ass Chrome Altezza (sp?) lights fgor the 03-05? If all you have to do is remove that bezel, I'll be all over that like white on rice, LOL
Aren't there screw holes through the trunk then when you remove it?

Do you just bondo those then? I know its a dumb question but I was really into buying those lights. Specially since I have a black 05 and the chrome lights will look badass.
Joe P, IMO, I would just do a swap. I have an 04, and im getting ready to swap out the 04 trunk and tails for the 02 trunk and tails. I think they look alot better. But again thats my openion. But the RK sport peice looks good, There are alot of guys on here who have it. and love it. but im sticking with the swap.
If you dont want the cf filler it would be easier to swap trunks because there are a lot of holes in the trunk. Just my opinion, but I dont think the chrome taillights look good. If you like the rice look I guess they would work though. I used the cf filler and 00-02 factory tails on mine.
Hey Tim...I noticed you got your car from Herndon Chevrolet (where I got mine)...just wondering if you're from South Carolina...
yes don't go for the rices look. but if you do fine
but c/f looks better.

I havent found any tails that have really jumped out at me, some are nice but not "WOW".
I might have to go to my local plastics shop and have some kustom ones made.
I would love to have a pair of LEDs made, (simililar to those found in the current Altima and other entry level luxury cars) for my Cavy. I think those would look nice.
I am hitting the bone yard either tomorrow or wednesday I'll pick up a pair of tails and start making something... not sure yet what, but something nun the less.
I know they will be LED tails, might even remove the reverse lights so both pieces will be brakes and only outside will be turns.
I'm not trying to jack yer thread just thought it sort of fit here, I can start a new thread if you want Joe?
im from south carolina
I'm not big I play big
ill be glad to sell ya some carbon fiber tails for a lil cash and your stock tails

Yep, I actually lived in lexington about 2 years ago, but then I moved to orangeburg. Still in lexington everyday for work though. Where you from?
I'm from Lexington as well, but work in Columbia...I pass Herndon Chevrolet everyday on my way to and from work.
Small world, I looked at your profile and we are a day apart in age.
Indeed it is a small world. I never realized there was a J-body.com member who lived that close to me. That's pretty awesome. We should try to get together sometime...perhaps come up with some ideas to resurrect my Cavalier (cosmetically) from the dead.
Hehe...you could have helped me put on my cat-back system yesterday, but it only took about 2 hours alone.
Heh, any time TIm, I'm in the area, if you need help, I'm willing to try and learn at the same time.
