Well a few weeks ago I posted that I wanted to have a bluish headlight. From my research and what was recommend to me it was almost as if someone were to get HID they HAD to get projectors to stop glaring and scattering of light. My plan was to buy the HID first then the projectors after. Well the HIDs are in and after a few hours of testing I find that, yes they are very bright and blue
. However I find that the light emitted is not to the extent that cars are flashing at me and the people have to squint. The glare emitted is not as bad as per say, those SUVs which are so bright. Maybe because I adjusted the beam to aim a little lower, which I found out how form my other thread that got jacked, lol (i dont mind).
Anyway I just curious on the discourse around running HID w/o projectors and whose doing it, is its illegal in Canada, did you get pulled over, im wrong and should have it taken out, etc..
BTW the HID I got are pretty cheap 97$ shipped and works great so far.
Put in the projectors you'll be glad you did

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
In canada it depends on your provinces laws.... I know here in Alberta it is illegal for you headlights to produce any color other then the white or stock yellowish color...
Straight from albertas traffic act..
(4) The light from a headlamp must be white, and the lens and bulb of the headlamp must be made of clear, untinted glazing.
(5) A person shall not attach or apply anything that colours the light from a headlamp to the headlamp, part of the headlamp or a bulb in the headlamps.
Personally I've never been pulled over for my lights (I have ultra white illuminics)... but I know a lot of people who have gotten tickets for having non-stock bulbs including hid set ups.... but I would check with your local traffic/safety act
Also I should add that Stock HID set-ups found in the newer high end vehicles are legal (even though most are stupidly bright) since they are stock (similar scenario to tint in canada as long as it's stock factory tint it's legal) and since more and more vehicles are coming stock with hids/super bright headlights I have not heard of anyone recently getting tickets ...
did you have to do any modifying? to the headlight housing?
Projectors are over $150, if I add projectors and find out it didnt do much, Im not going to be glad that I wasted so much money to make a small difference...
Im trying to find the laws in Ontario but haven't had much luck, havent gotten a ticket yet so im good (knock on wood).
DropTopZBird- nope, took me about an less than an hour and I know very little about cars lol
dan where did u buy yours from ebay?
i guess this is kinda very old but here is the law for ontario
Strength of front lamps
(9) No motor vehicle shall carry on the front thereof more than four lighted lamps that project a beam having an intensity of over 300 candela. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 62 (9).
My understanding in almost every single area is "Non OEM HID components" are illegal.
I'm really happy your headlights are blue.. but yes by projectors, they "Project" the light in a equal pattern onthe road and focus it. All that glare? Yea thats wasted light.
Not being a arse or nothing I just never understood the apeal of tacky and fake looking blue lights?
" Aint nothin' but a Peanut!"
i hate when people have hid's with no projectors...
It was like that when i bought it officer... end of discussion...
yeah i drove out of my way to have the windows tinted to 10% oh well it was that way when i paid them for it...
the problem with suv's isn't the fact that they have bright head lights it's the fact that there head lights sit higher off the ground than your wind shield so it appears they are brighter

it doesnt matter, a project will do exactly that. project the light to a fixed point. if there is no projector, you get a bright light that shines every where and blinds people.
