Body Vinyl Opinions
Saturday, January 15, 2011 8:40 PM
So me being the paranoid person I am and being afraid to do anything too permanent to my car, Ive been looking into getting my hood roof and trunk lip covered in vinyl instead of having them painted. Has anyone done this with decent success? I dont need it to be permanent. I just want to be able to enjoy that look until I get bored of it or decide to sell.

vinyl skins are HARD to apply w.o bubbles, etc. Any place that does body wraps should be able to help install. Sounds like a lot of extra cash to change your look up, but hey, your money.

Talk to JM graphics, or CP Autographics, they should have more info than me.

I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

Find me a spoilerless trunk lid and itll happen, woman. Or Ill just drive around with my Miami Dolphins fender and black hood.

My cousin said he'd do the paint but Im so paranoid about it turning out bad. Idk why.

Have you looked at your car recently?

It can't hurt it......

ehhh im not a huge fan of it personally. ive seen some high dollar bmw's and mercedes turn into crap with wraps. if someone is painting it for free and they know how to paint then just paint it and be done. if they dont know how to paint then just leave it be.

Its in current crappy weather mode, which only looks slightly crappier than usual. Jeffies just a hater.

The fender is in my attic and not on the car. Its that aqua blue color.

Go for it, don't let everyone talk you down from it just because they haven't tried it. Finding a shop to do it for you would be easier, but with enough time and practice anyone can do it. Read the thread on E90 forums, he gives a good write up.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

I know an awesome one in Rochester, ihatestickers FTW! You'll have to poke around locally though.

It's easier than you think, they spray the car down so the vinyl pulls back up easily. It also makes the bubbles easier to work out.

Probably just like window tint. Wet the paint. Lay down the vinyl and squeegee the water and bubbles out.

I'm not sure if this will embed, but this is the owner of ihatestickers hood on his 240.

All printed vinyl.

Thats pretty sweet. I think there might actually be a place local to me that could do it. I knew a guy who had his Ranger covered for when he was a realtor.

You can certainty cover your entire car with vinyl. They make special wrap vinyl for this that i can offer you if your interested.

If your doing those particular parts i would recommend the carbon fiber look wrap vinyl. It's very realistic and wraps around parts and curves with no problem. Attached is a sample of it.

Durability is 3-5 years and you can make many parts they don't make carbon fiber, Carbon fiber with this wrap vinyl.

I offer it in 60" wide sheets by the yard only at this time. A yard of it runs $125.00 + Shipping and Handling. Customer install is no problem as it's easy to work with. I include squeegees on orders like this for your convenience.

I also can offer gloss black, matte white, matte black wrap vinyl. It's cheaper than the carbon fiber vinyl but doesn't give as good of a impact as realistic carbon fiber vinyl.

Message me if your interested and we can get something going.

Actually a week from Saturday I have an appointment with Wright Signs (www.wright-signs.com) to do this same scheme (Hood, roof, trunk lid, and rear bumber partial) but in Satin. It'll look pretty cool with the black accent since wheels and windows (tint) are black too. I like the thought of the glossy "sandrift tan" with the contrast of the dark and flat satin. I've got a lil discount since I used to work there at $380 installed. Not bad for 3M satin. When I get it done I'll get the car all cleaned up and attempt to post some pics.

"Vroom."
"Yo I wouldn't race him, there's not even an interior in his car man."
"Vrooooooom PSSSSHHH!"
"Oh sh*t. F*ck that, dude..."

Most annoying Fing video ever. All I wanted to see was some nice still shots of the finished car without the annoying flashing, shaking and flickering. Anyone else feel the same way or is it just me?
