a rebuild to both the engine and trans is where i'd start. have the head ported while it's off, while reassembling, add either 1.6 rockers or a big cam, and ignition upgrades.

I agree. This is very good advise.

F_CK that, keep it stock and go for a new high score.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
you really cant get past 55? soemthing's wrong lol not even talking the mileage....bc my friend has a civic with 380,000 miles and it still pulls hard, the vtec stick kicks...its completely stock, only things he changes are mantenance things like plugs/wire/battery/oil/ect.
Honestly upgrading to all the equipment from a 93 Cavalier would probably go a long way. You'd go from the TB injection to MPFI, and also go from 90hp to 120.

full exhaust, cams, cold air intake. that'll get you moving pretty good for starters.
but if you dont do anything for a while, replace the timing set!! at least then you can still keep it on the road.
exhaust is strait pipe right now i just changed the belts, oil, spark plugs and wires, and cleaned up the alternator im gettin around 70mph on the speedo now

QFT. Didn't realize '93 had the bump in power. I know '94 does.

Ive got 95 2.2, what you're saying is i can go to junk yard and pull parts from a 93 2.2 and get more power? please go more into detail
what parts and simple bolt on?
It's the other way around 95ls. The older 2.2 will make more power with an upgraded fuel delivery system.

oooohhh id be losing power haha his engine with my parts is what he meant
no the older 2.2 was 90hp then 93-97was 120hp then 98-02 was 115 but the 93-97 had 5ftlbs of torque less then a 98+ modle

The choice bolt-ons would be the management, the head & manifolds, and the cam & lifters from the '93-'94 engine. As for whatever Aaron has done so-far... It seems like the car in question was just suffering a clogged catalytic-converter. I've had my '94 S-truck fall on it's face just trying to putter around my uncle's neighborhood because of one, and this was after finishing swapping cranks in it! (It was LN2-powered also.) A drop of the extension-pipe, a few punches inside the cat with a jack handle, start the engine & hit the throttle a few times, shut-off engine & repeat last three steps a few times... And it was fine! I didn't need to worry about what effect it'd have on the management (Pre-OBD-II... no after-cat EGOS!) and it actually got 1mpg better on-average with it gutted than it did with the replacement (Still fell under local emissions laws at the time).
Go beyond the "bolt-on".
^ I have to agree that something like that is wrong. To hold highway speed it really only takes a few HP. So if you're really struggling to get that speed then you've got something wrong.

Irony: How few people know that the scheduled replacement of the catalytic-converter is 100k-mi.
Think about it...!

How do they figure that? I know warranty is 80k. I've had plenty of car go past that mark and not get replacement cat. But, I guess keeping your @!#$ in good running condition goes a long way.

Really guys? I'm all for giving bad advice but beyond trying to fix whats wrong with it. Leave the damn thing stock, keep it as a winter beater and buy something else if you want to go fast.

I dunno... But every service-manual I've ever perused states exactly that. Go figure....

Hey guys, i wanted to ask whats the next step for my car? im done with the exhaust and wanted to know if a cam would add more torque?

Wrong.
Do whatever you want to it. There are a couple places that will do cam regrinds.
ok, but what would you prefer to do next?
