What's up guys,
I heard from someone here at the org. that CT sell a liquid stuff (can't remember wat's it called) that u mix with gasoline night before e-test and & ur car is guaranteed to pass.
Is it true? I might try it out.
you can get them at most places, not sure what its called. I have seen it at CT at scarborough mccowan/sheppard in front of their service department. My only advice is if you dont pass, find out why, get the test sheet and see what needs to be done to repair it. Then get a second opinion to avoid any costly repairs.
Its called Garunteed pass. It should be called garunteed fail, i will let you figure out why...
Change your air filter (if you haven't recently). Run some premium fuel through your tank, and maybe some injector cleaner.
It's like $35 for the test, and then half that to redo it, so you shouldn't worry.
I just passed with a '98 Z24 that had been sitting for almost a year. I drove for like a week (I did what I said above, which is about the cheapest tune-up you can do) and just took it for the test and it passed with flying colours. You have to be running REALLY @!#$ty - and it's usually noticeable - to fail.
If you've got some reason to think you're going to fail, you should look into getting it fixed.
Most cars pass. Even most beaters. They sell that crap to people who are afraid of failing. It's likely just some crap injector cleaner or something. Of the few people who buy it and fail, even fewer will go through the steps to actually get their money back so the scam works.

i agree with everything you said except running some premium fuel. running a higher octane in a car that doesnt need it is pointless and can actually cause your car to run a little rich. run too rich, and you fail.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
Only thing i'm concerned is my fuel filter it hasn't been change for a while(rusted) dealer, jeffy lube, & the others won't touch it for some reason. i even tried it but it's as easy as i thought.
It is scheduled for e-test tommorow, i think i'll just give it a try.
Anyways, thanks for all the help guys.

Can't say I've heard of premium making a car run rich, considering how closely the a/f is monitored by the computer.
At least I know with running premium myself that I never have to worry about injector cleanings.

What is your mileage?
The fuel filter is probably the thing that never gets changed, but should just to be able to change it, because of that stupid fitting they use.
I changed mine on my last car only because I had to change the fuel pump, and just ripped the previous one out. The filter removal tool doesn't work real well when the whole thing is rust - especially if it's a plastic version of the tool.
But yah, I had like 150K when I did an e-test and the filter hadn't been changed. I just did an e-test on a Z24 with 225K and I wouldn't imagine the fuel filter has been changed in the past few years.
Definetely look at your air filter. I had one so clogged up, I actually noticed a difference when I changed it.. and buy the filter at Wal-Mart, their FRAM air filters are cheaper than CT.
Best advise.
Make sure the car is good and hot! A hot cat works well.
