I just purchased my d specs last night and I may have a problem. The air compressor I was counting on using may no longer be available. Has anyone here ever done suspension work without air tools? I have never tried without them. Please let me know anything I may run into without them. Thanks.

The only "power" tools I've used on a car (air or electric) are a grinder, drill, light.
I do just about everything the old fashon way. Not that I'd recommend it, but it can be done, quite easily if you're strong.
I recommend air tools....save your self some time
Its going to be alot easier with air tools but its not really that hard without them.

ill admit im a pussy haha i used to do everything the old fashion way but now i have some air tools and i wont go back especially an air rachet.
but to answer your question all work on your car can be done without air tools but you may need to put a little more effort into some parts

You can buy an electric impact wrench for fairly cheap.
Only thing you sometimes need one for is the top nut on the struts. If you don't have a method of holding the strut shaft still and don't want to mark it up with vice grips or something, then the impact wrench is often the best bet.
I don't need one since my Koni Specials have an allen socket on the top to hold them still.
Rent one! Cost me $12 to rent an electric impact wrench!

electric is different than air tools tho...
only tool i used to install my goldlines and koni reds was an electric impact wrench..
rest of them were all hand power
I hate electric impact guns. I always use air tools on my car. Makes things alot easier
do the electric ones work the same and just as good? they are prety cheap... might have to get one from home depot. 300 max tq, 1600 rpm or somethin... good?

"Do they work the same", they produce the same basic result: fast impacts of high torque.
But air tools are much stronger, more reliable, and generally better suited to the task.
yea you wont get the same power out of an electric one.. but it gets the job done...

Here is the way I look at it. If your are just working on your own car as a hobby air tools are luxury and will never pay for them selves. With out them it takes more time but the job still ends up being done.
But if you are working on other peoples cars for money, air is a necessity. It will pay for its self because you can get more work done in the same amount of time.

I totaly disagree with you on that first part. I wouldnt work on my car if I didnt have air.
Maybe its because Ive had air sence I was like 13 years old. So Ive been the type to tare apart my ride on the weekend just for shts and giggles. Not just because I had to work on it. I work on cars for fun. It wouldnt be as fun to me without air.
And like I said before. With my back the way it is. I need air for breaking the big stuff.

Oh and I think my air has paid for itself many times over. Most likely sence Ive had it for well over 10 years and have put it all to good use.
If you buy quality stuff it will last you along time and will for sure pay it self off.
