I have a set of Ground Control coilovers. Now I just need struts. I only plan to drop the car 1.5" for daily driving in summer and at shows slamming it 2" or so. From what I've researched this is what I've come up with.
Koni Yellows (best) $575 shipped from Karo, best ride, good to lower up to 2" drop. Probably be ok to slam 2" for a car show or two.
KYB AGX's (cheaper) $360 or so Ebay, good ride, good to lower up to 1.5" and would probably blow them if lowered 2" on the way to a car show.
KYB GR2's (cheaper) $250 Ebay, good ride for a couple months, pretty much a stock replacement strut. Definately could not lower 2" without them blowing or even over 1.4"
Do I have my facts straight. Any other opinions on a cheaper, but good strut. I know, you get what you pay for. That is why I'm leaning towards the Koni's. Any comments recomendations from what you have. Thanks.
You got it right. But Tein i beleive has a set of struts you might be able to use.
( someone correct me if im wrong). I got Yellows and absolutly love them. I am dropped on S-Techs but I would say you cant go wrong with Koni, if you plan on keep ing the car for a while get koni.

you might wanna re-read the faqs. grs2 are oem replacements. no drop at all recommened for them. if you got gc coils just get konis. this way if you want to lower it then you can. the yellows are your best option
When you're dealing with coilovers, there's more to consider than the ride height.
You also have to consider the much higher spring rates. With your ground controls, even at stock height the KYB's won't handle them. AGX or GR2.
Get Konis. It's your best bet.
Ride height doesn't actually matter to a strut at all (unless it's bottoming out). The spring rate is what matters. But how do you communicate that to people? Spring drop is
usually a good indication of spring rate. Lower drops = Higher Rates.
Struts are only good up to a certain rate, coilovers have a very high rate. Cheap coilover kits have extreme rates usually (cause they didn't put the time into getting the rate just right).
Those high rates (GC Coilovers included) will blow just about any strut. Koni and Tokico are the only ones that can handle them. KYBs (AGX or GR2) will not.
Coilover kits (with the springs and struts together) are ususally a good choice. I say usually because there are ultra cheap kits out there, they are complete crap, don't get them. Gravana's kit, RK Sports', Tein's are all good (and there are others), and all in the FAQ.
