Has anybody done this? i dont mean drl's, im talking about a circuit with a light sensor.
i just ordered a bunch of parts to try to build it.
i saw a kit on ebay but it was from outside the US and was $50
Super easy, just a matter of finding where to mount it.
I just stole a sensor from a............ car at a wrecker. I can't remember which.
It's just a photocell that powers up a relay, but is very nice.
Yup simple I almost did this to satch but figured the buick already has it screw adding it to the cav lol

Alexis: Dustin, you're ghey, lol. I am better. I have tits, and tits rule all.
Anybody got a how to on how to do this?
listening.
where is a good mounting point.
well im building everything myself. I also have the hid's so i want a little bit of a delay. for the parts i ordered i will have adjustable light sensitivity and a 33 second delay.
I dont want to drive under a overpass and my headlights turn on the off.
the parts im using are
1.5k resistor
2.2k resistor
7.5k resistor
1n914 diode
1n4001 diode
3300 uF capacitor
25k pot
the photocell
2- 2n3906 transistor
2n3053 transistor
2sd613 FET
and some fuses and holders.
Once you get it working, I'd greatly appreciate some pics and a schematic.
Wow so i got my parts in ordered from a site figured it was in the US the company was in australia and shipped from thailand. lol It only took about a week to get and $4 shipping.
Im going to put it together monday and see what happens.
ill work on a diagram.
Anyone complete this? I'm thinking about using parts from a 99+ Grand Am to do this for our new Cavalier. I'm assuming it would be a cinch to do if it's factory parts from another GM vehicle, if I can mount the light sensor.
On my GAGT, it's mounted underneath the defroster vent. I just don't know what relays it uses, or if it's controlled by the BCM.

in my friends s10 and my dads silverado the sensor is mounted on the top of the dash in the speaker grille. Im guessing defroster vent would be an ideal location. if this works i might just give it a try, sure would be convenient.

I did this a while back on my '03. I used the auto headlamp module from a '99 Buick Century. If I can find the wiring digrams, I'll post the required connections. It was pretty easy and it works great. I wired the DRL circuit (Century DRL's were T/S lamps) to the turn signal lamps like the Cobalts etc. so if you add HID's, you don't have to worry about the original DRL circuit.
That would be great! What exactly would I need to get? Would the module be close to the sensor on a car? I would need to pull the parts from a JY, so any info on what to get would be helpful. Thanks!

Hey guys, sorry for the delay. The Buick DRL module I used was from a '99 Century, I'm not sure wich other years have the same module but, I know from 2003 on, this became a BCM function and no longer a seperate module. If I remember correctly, the module is under the driver's side of the dash. It's case is white plastic. All you need is this and the light sensor. I used the sensor that was in the Century, but I assume others would work. I can't find the wiring diagrams I used, but I'll have a look at them tomorrow and post all the connections that need to be made.
hey can somone pleae tell me how to do this!! i understand you need the DRL module and the sensor, but what do you wire them too? please help. im VERY interested!
So you replied in this thread, bumping it back up to the top... THEN also made your own thread? Calm down and @!#$ wait for an answer, dude.
