It all depends on what you want to do with the car.
By your profile, it doesn't look like your planning on any modifications to the car. If this is the case, then the only downfalls are that the 1st gear isn't as low as the 4sp(4T40E) and you dont have over drive(not quite as good gas milage). The gearing is slightly higher for a little better gasmilage though.
All this means performance wise is it's the slowest of the transmissions(in stock form). There is an up side for performance though, there is a better selection of gearing available, shift kits, aftermarket clutches(autos have them inside) and bands, and tourque converters. Yes, alot of these items(or the electronic equivalents) are available for the 4T40E, but the 3sp(3T40/TH125C) has been around longer and has a little more suppert and selection available.
thanks, I just wanted to know since I was going to buy the auto trans chip.
my plans were:
1. auto trans
2. porting the head for high compresion and the intake and exhaust ports as well.
3. 50 shot nitrous
but that transmition wont help me at all =(
I need a new sig =(
Sorry to break it to ya dude..
The interceptor won't work with the 3T40 (3 speed), since it's not electronically controlled... it can't use electronic hacks (like the Autotrans Interceptor and B&M Shiftplus) like the 4T40E can (the E is the key part...)
