Ok so last week my car did something funny. I was driving home from work when my ETS light came on. Didnt think much of it at first, the light changed I hit the gas, Then THUMP on the shift from 1st to 2nd. It was almost like hitting something the force was so hard and loud. Well i get it home and its dark so i cant check much so i leave it till morning. Next morning i go out to the car and turn it on, no ETS light. So now im like ok WTF. Well the light stayed off and the car shifted fine till today. Lights back and so is the extremely hard shifting. Any ideas on what it could be?
By the way 99 2200 with the 4t40e.
Mine does something similar...but without the ETS light. Does it feel like its slipping? My 4t40e did the light/thump thing before it started slipping. Change the filter and fluid b4 it does start to slip...maybe it'll help.

Its not slipping and the fluid and filter was changed less then 3 months ago
