Hey I drive a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 2.4 5spd and I am in the process of changing the transmission I have everything out the tranny is just dangling there thought I could just pull the boots off the end of the axle part that connects to the trany and pull the tranny out like that but it doesn't seem to fit.... I could be doing it wrong???? Anyways just want to know if there is a trick to poping them out I have tried everything, I hear they are supposed to just pop out but I tried prying on them even with a pry bar and still nothing....so any help on this would be much appreciated....
Heres the pics best I ca ntake anyways in 10 min iwth a cell cam

In your 3rd pic above the part with the holes in it is the seal. You'll need to gently pry there to pop the axle out. I've always removed the axles when doing tranny work and that may be your trouble. The wheel ends may make it difficult to remove the inner end only.

having done this three times...
it's basically a 2 person job--someone to grab the inner cv housing, and someone else to rock it back and forth...it takes a but, but they will pop out.

If you are going to replace the axle seals anyway (which I suggest you do, they are only $15), you can stick a long pry bar behind the axle on the transmission side and just pry it out. If you are prying against the seal, it will ruin the seal, but like I said, they are cheap and should be replaced anyway.
