Well,
It looks good, they have a 35 offset so i was like PHEW. And to tell you the truth, the front doesnt rub, neither does the rear and the cavy sits LOW. I rolled the rear lips to make sure, but so far so good. Handles well (of course) but best of all, i couldn't believe that the ride was not that harsh. Phew again.
So survey says: YES, 225/40/18s ride nice and shouldn't rub, with an extreme drop of 2.5 or so in the front. You will have to roll fender lips, but it works.
Pics will be up soon.

hrmm, thats really close... think you'd still be ok if you hit a large bump while turning?

I don't know if this is directed towards me be like I said above it doesn't hit anywhere but I'm sure under very specific condiotions (like bottoming out in a pothole while turning hard) that somehtign would rub somewhere but no problems yet
Just be sure to inspect all the tires again in a week and then again in a month to ensure all is well. Better safe than sorry.
I check out the fender lips to make sure there is no rubbing pretay much every night, when I'm outside having a cigerette I'll check them quick
I've been running 18x8 and 225/40/18 for a couple years now. Rolled the front fenders so I didn't have any issues. Also added camber plates up front just to be safe. The rear does rub once in a while if I have a bunch of stuff in the back of the car on long road trips. I think it rubs more on the rear fender liners than anything. Guess I shouldn't be lazy and just raise the rear a couple notches on road trips. (note to self for next month's trip to Boston)

yeah i got coilovers so I could ajust the height... doesn't happen I didn't even bother to raise it for the snow hahah
18x8's with 40mm offset and 225/40/18 tires on my car for two years lowered the whole way down with prostreets and never rubbed front or rear. Wheels are about 3-7mm from struts but never have touched once.
Your car looks great witht the new wheels!!nice
