UPDATE: In-Dash Sirius Install - It's Finished!
Tuesday, January 17, 2006 1:40 PM
Here is where we left off...big ugly gaps around the thing and uneven places where I cut the vinyl. Thanks to everyone who gave it such high praise although it was still kind of rough.

First thing I had to do was completely pull the whole thing out and attach it to PVC to eliminate the raised areas where the vinyl met the CF. Then, a little sanding.

I created a template for a trim piece and cut it with an X-Acto blade out of 1/16" white PVC, sanded a bevel into the outer edge, added 3M adhesive tape to the back and carefully trimmed it out, then painted it with Graphite spray paint. I left the driver's side open for flow purposes. Anyone looking for a VERY close Graphite match can feel free to email me - this stuff worked really well and dried FAST.

The Final Product:

I plan to add a carbon fiber airbag cover and a CF dash accent around that far vent. That should pretty much tie it all together.

This is my favorite Cav project ever. I can't believe how well it turned out.

Thanks again for your comments and suggestions - I'll have a new project soon, I'm sure!

Thanks guys - yeah that should keep that vinyl down in its place I hope. My only concern now is what may happen on the first 100+ degree day...

I'll post a few more pics when I get the airbag cover and a couple other accents in.

How about trim pieces around the round air vents on the 03+ Sunfires? (Or even better the Grand Am round vents) as well as the Cavalier vents?
