Anyone else have this problem?
Saturday, December 02, 2006 10:05 AM
So in Illinois...it's finally starting to get cold and we've seen a little bit of snow. Heres where my problem comes in. I keep getting moisture on the insides of all the windows in my cavalier, then it turns to ice. It didnt do this last winter, and I'm stuck on how to fix it. Have any of you had this happen as well, and do you know how to make it stop doing it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Ya, it happens in my car sometimes.
When I get home for the night, I let the cold air run for a minute or two and then when I get out, I leave the door open for a second. That way it lets out some of the moisture from me breathing. Also, it keeps your windows at least mildy cold so the snow doesn't melt when it hits the windshield and freeze later.
You also might clean your floor mats or something where water/moisture could be.

I'm in Illinois as well, and it happens a lot when it gets cold out. Moisture trapped in the car either from breathing, liquids, etc does it. Best method would be to make sure your windows are closed all the way before you leave for the night, and do WizKid's as well. Other then that, nothing else you can do?

Use a bit of silicone lube every year or so on all the weather stripping to keep it soft and pliable so it seals properly.

Not sure if it will do any good once they're shot... but if anyone is reading this that hasn't had any problems, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
