Im the one doing the work on this car.
Its been a long road, but its just about done. Little bit more tuning and we are good.
Another reason for a 3400 and not a 3800SC. This fits inalot easier, uses pretty much stock mounts. 3800 you gotta make a custom subframe. This brings the pricetag up alot more.
This route you have a reliable, daily driving Sunfire with 200HP and Torque.

Stock 98 Sunfire Gauges
I used the 3400 PCM to run the engine and piggy backed the 2200 PCM for the gauges.
If you look at this pic,you can see the 3400 PCM, the 200 one is mounted in the stock location.

cool-i was wondering why you put it there and not the pass. side.

how hard was it to wire in with the 3400 stuff?

You would have to talk to Brad at Double Z. I got him to make the harness.

They fit better, still have some room to work around them when they're in there, and they are a smoother engine (even fire). These engines have tons of potential, especially when you look at swapping the 3500 top end on them.

All that aside, they are a hell of a lot more of a bolt-in swap than a 3800. Years ago, myself and Mr. Goodwrench were researching the 60 degree swaps, and were able to find tons of parts that you could use off the shelf, rather than fabricating everything. There are a few options for motor mounts, and all of them require a minor amount of fab, but nothing close to the 3800.

Anyway, it's looking good. I can't wait to get mine on the road, but it won't happen this year. I still have a bunch of work to do, and I'm going to be away for September and October for work. But at least it's getting there, and I'll be doing the paint over the winter. I couldn't get photobucket to open for some reason, but I'll have to check it out again when I get home tonight.

If I could get a rolling chassis for cheap i thought about doing the 3400 twin cam swap from the lumina z34 into a 95+ cav or sunfire. That would be a twist from the normal 3400 single cam most use...
