Cody and I headed out to the shop a few weeks ago to do some work on the Trailblazer, and install some of the parts I've had laying around since February. Didn't think to post up the pictures here, but figured some guys might like to see the change
Started off with a front brake job. The inner pads were down to bare metal. The rotors were gouged on the inside, but there's no brake shudder. I decided to throw some cheap pads on and let the rotors wear themselves into the ground. We painted the caliper brackets off the truck while the brakes were apart.
Can't exactly paint the fronts and not the rears, right? Cody-Son...clean the brakes!!
I'm sure most people have noticed that the TB's have a pretty serious "rake" to them. They noticeably pitch down in the nose and I knew this would look horrible with new rims. I found a set of 2" rear lowering springs brand new on Ebay for $85.00 and snatched them up. The instructions said to cut the bump stop more than the drop, and I refused to do that. Rides and looks great the way it's set up.
Brakes are all painted up and lookin' better. I didn't focus too much on the rotors, but I'll paint the new ones when I need to install some.
Ah, the stupid resonator... The thing pretty much serves no purpose, so I hacked it off and fabbed up a quick little "exhaust tip." Looks soooo much better back there. I know it looks like it's angled up, but when you look at it while on the ground, it's perfectly level.
20" TBSS rims in Gunmetal (OEM GM,) wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion ATR rubber. Rims were dirt cheap (brand new) and I bought the 245-50-20 used rubber for $200.00. I'm happy as all hell with the finished product. It's a daily driver so I probably won't do much more, save for a shorter antenna and maybe some white interior LED's.
im thinking of doing one of these up soon.....looks great!
now when are you gonna talk Cody into working on his huh huh huh.
I <3 JGM
I think bigfoot is blurry,
that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra
scary to me. There's a large, out-of-focus monster, roaming the countryside.

tasteful, a trend that should spread...
Looking pretty good, but it needs something in the grills and the fog area..
I say remove the side moldings. Looks much better leveled out.

The rear is lowered 2"... the TBSS spring up front would lower the front .5-1". Anything more than 2" up front would require adjustable control arms to fix the camber. Chris's truck is his DD, so he's not going to get too carried away.
I am toying with ideas on what I will do. My main concern is towing my 3500lb 21ft ski boat and being lowered. The weight of the boat is only going to drop it more and I am not sure of my boats tongue weight yet. I am not doing anything crazy with my truck because I am trying to get away from modding and enjoy life rather than spending my extra cash on a car...
I'm snagging some factory running boards and mud flaps this year to protect against damage to the doors. Then down the road prolly next tax return time the TBSS wheels ( prolly 22" reproductions, resonator delete in 3", OEM fogs, and a mild drop pending on low she'll sit. Might ask chris to hook up to my boat to see how low the tongue weight drops his trucks ass end.
Other wise mines staying stock engine wise.
looks really good
RIP JESSE GERARD.....Youll always be in my thoughts and prayers...
Thanks for all the compliments, guys!!
The reason I didn't lower it more is that it's a DD for me that has to have the ability to go off-road if I need it to. I didn't even wanna worry about scraping or clearance with this truck--I have enough headaches with the Sunfire...lol.
I do agree the front end needs some attention. The bowtie is vinyl'd right now and I'm going to spray-paint and clear-coat it soon. I might also paint the chrome grill white. Also toyed with the idea of a flat(er) black grill with a
white bowtie. Cody and I are definitely going to install factory fog lights, and that should be it for the front end.
I have a Kappa 10" sub sitting around my house (that was almost never used,) so I think my next mod when I have time will be to fiberglass a box into the storave compartment on the right if you're standing behind the tail-gate.

Get the load assisting(whatever) air bags for the rear.

My dad used to tow his '69 Z28 with ours. Theyre capable.
Just lose the nerf bars and that truck is legit.
