anyone know where to buy a new rear quarter panel for our cars. Also, how hard is it to cut and weld on these things. Im suure its nothing like the old american muscle that actally was made form metal...

the rear quarter panel is welded on to the car at about 130 or so points, so it's not like you can just walk up to a car and remove a few bolts and walk away with the quarter panel. there's a ton of work that's involved with replacing it. it is made of metal though.
i was joking about the metal. It just seems like all the metal on the newer cars is so think i can bend it by leaning agianst it.
Does anyone know of anyone that has done extensive damage repair to the rear quarter or if anyone makes a reproduciton rear queater. I know how to cut and weld. I need the new piece of metal to weld in.

call a dealer or a parts store.... I would advise drilling out all of the spot welds rather then cutting them. It will save you a lot of work when you go to put the new one on. If you still cant find a place to buy one, call a bodyshop and see if they can refer you somewhere to get one. This is not an easy job tho, like cannon said there are about 130 spot welds that have to be drilled out, this also involves removing the rear side glass in order to get to several of them, and then re-welding all 130 of those welds that were drilled out.
sounds like a fun task. Might as well as go at it.

I replaced the rear quarter on my fire and yes it is no easy task but it's not that difficult if you have the time and tools. You will also have to remove the rear glass along with the side glass in order to get to all the spot welds, and NO don't drill out the orginal welds you'll just end up drilling right through you're inner fender and other things causing even more work (any professional shop will tell you this), so grind them off. Finally nobody makes an aftermarker quarter panel for the J so you're stuck buying one from the dealer, which lists at just about 495 currently, but the dealers cost is right about 345, so just try to sweet talk them a bit and you should be able to get it for about 375 plus tax. Finally be very carefull grinding and welding around the fuel filler neck!! Things like to go boom!!!

You'll probably get it cheaper finding a nice clean one at a wrecker rather than buying new.
do you have that p/n for the rear pass. quarter by any chance?

I see what your saying, but there are drill bits made for this to prevent drilling all the way through.
