IE what you like is different then the org so you should read whats considered cool around here becasue opoins other then the majority arent excepted.

if you want to do this it probably wouldnt be harder then finding a car with a singel wiper setup and fabraciating a bracet and switch. stich with gm since all the fittings should be the same. sorry im not much more help but I hate to se responses that shun out of the box thinking. welcome to the org

It can be done very easily. You just take both wiper arms off &
then put the longer one on in the centered position. I seen this
done on Gary Oxley's car a LONG LONG time ago. I personally
don't care for the "one wiper look", but to each his own. Good luck,
hope this helps...

I would recomend that you don't do it being it's not legal. At least around my neck of the woods. Cops love pulling over car owners that have that one windsheild wiper set up. It also won't pass inspection in my neck of the woods either.
and if you were wondering where I am, pennsylvania.

you want it WHEN??

Here's a pic for you to see how it might look...*not my car...just a local cav* click to enlarge

Good luck if you decide to do it, and post pictures!

Well, way back in the day, I did it on my green car for like a week. I quickly changed back to the regular setup when I realized two things: 1) It looked completely stupid. 2) It didn't clean the windshield as well as I liked.

I saw Gary Oxley's car with the one wiper setup, too, and I always wondered why he kept it like that.

It different, if that's what you want to do, just do it how Kevin Richter said cause that's exactly how I did it.

I think hes talking about doing it the right way where the wiper still stays all the way down

The only way i could think to do it would be use a motor off a car that has it and adapt it to yours.

Don't do it! You don't have a civic, remember?

Note the dents in the hood...Probably hit something because he couldn't see in the rain with a single wiper.

Also, it would take more work, but for this mod to be done right, the wiper needs to rest at the level of the hood rather than 10 inches up the windshield.

Some VW Sciroccos came with a single 180º swing wiper.

Looks ghey to me. Unless you do it correctly where th wiper sits all the way down but that would require a new arm and possibly different motor and stops.

like said before, if your car is made with 2 wipers, you can't pass inspection with only one wiper, you need both of them

i love how only 2 people seemed to read his actual post. either than or none of you except 2 people know what the mercedes wipers look like. ive been sayin' this for years. if it can be done correctly like flip said where it looks like the mercedes wiper were it lays all the way down in the off position then it will look good

Re: single wiper

Such as this?

Re: single wiper
Monday, January 23, 2006 12:53 PM
Right.

Basically... there are two ways to do this and I've only ever seen one done on a j-body.

There's the ghetto-ricer method, where you remove the driver's side wiper and jimmy the passenger one to rest half-way up the windshield and sweep a part of the middle of it when you turn it on. You see that all the time and it's retarded.

Then there's the proper way, which has been described here, but I've never seen actually done. This would involve making it work like the cars mentioned above where it rests below the windows and sweeps the full 180 degrees (or whatever, depending on where the pivot is) to cover as much area of the windshield as possible.

If you can make that, then by all means go to it and many of us here will be impressed.

If you're going with the first method though, don't bother. It's not cool. It's not difficult or custom. It's just stupid and anyone who knows anything knows it's stupid.
