I dont see what the big deal about it is... I really dont.... just a picture on someones website... not someone is saying.. "This is MY car look at what I have done with it.... "

but they're not giving credit to who did the work, they are just using the picture. i know i'd like to get credit for the work i've done if my picture is being used.

but considering Meckster did all that custom body work himself, having a pic of his car saying "bodykits.com" is rather misleading, almost like you can buy the parts to make any cavalier look just like his.

No, it's a link to a site selling body kits. What they're saying is "If you want your car to look like this, buy the stuff from us."

That's worth money. That would be like you putting up an ad with a big picture of Michael Jordan telling everyone to go to carcustoms.net. It's illegal. Basically, Meckster is legally entitled to a cut of all profits gained as a result of people following that link.

Well, considering the KIT IS CUSTOM! They use that picture, but do you see that exact same kit for sale anywhere within their site??

Would you change your mind if you knew that your image was being used to generate thousands of dollars in sales and you weren't seeing a penny of that? What if the company was using it to help sell garbage parts and people thought you had something to do with it?

We've been through this countless times here.

If anyone is interested in all the gritty details, do a search here in the General forum. There's been some really detailed discussion on the topic. Regardless of whether you would care, it's still illegal misrepresentation.

i would consider this as false advertisement because thats a custom bumper and if you ordered one and it didn't come like that its false advertisement.... thats illegal...

you can contact them to take it down. but you really want to take them to court over this?you just might get laughed at. but you never know, im still waiting for someone to take another company to court over misuse of a picture

Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
Re: Meckster pic theft?

Legally he can take this to court because the pictures on the internet do not have to be stated as copyrighted. They are deemed copyrighted even if they don't state the fact. Wild Weasel is correct in all of his post before this one and on this topic its illegal is the fact. Meckster you may contact them or you can just go get a certified letter froma lawyer and they will drop the picture or make a deal with you. Yes im sure you could get money out of it . Thats only if you took the proper course.

I guess we all see it differently.... when your dealing with the internet you start dealing with stuff like that... no way to stop it.. only real way would be dont post pictures of your car on the net... guess its that simple.... even if you water mark it.. i am sure there is a way to get rid of the water mark.....

Karo you are correct.........but if someone stole your pictures and used them it wouldnt be that great of a deal seeing you have your name on the side of the car.......unless they just went and adjusted the picture. But your right we all see differnt on everything its the American way

I am going to start watermarking my pictures from now on. Depending on how you do the watermark, it can make it hard or easy when it comes to them trying to removing it

The big difference comes when they're using it for commercial purposes. If someone had a pic of my car on their personal website because they thought it was nice, or garbage, or whatever, then I wouldn't have much of an issue with that. If, however, they are using it for commercial purposes without my permission then that's a real problem.

If they're making money off it, I deserve in on the deal and I certainly deserve a say in how it's used.

Why does it always come down to being a money issue? To me it seems greed if you ask me. Dont take offence to it but it seems like what this world has come down to is "If your using pictures of my car on your website I need to be paid for it"

If someone wanted to take pictures of my car and use it on there website good for them. I could care less. Now of course if they called it there OWN car, put there OWN stickers with photoshop on the car then yes I would have a major problem with that.

As I have always said if you dont want your pictures used with water mark with out water mark dont post it on the net. Its just that simple.

Again I could be looking at it from a different point of view then most others but then again what do I know . . . .
