I keep seeing all this stuff about LD9 motor. I have a 1999 Z24 and there is a tag on the side of my motor, the tag says TC9. I was wondering if the two were the same. If any one knows if the two are the same could ya fill me in.
someone correct me if i'm wrong.
if you have a 1999 z24 it has the 2.3L engine...only used for a year(maybe 2 or 3). the LD9 engine is the 2.4L in the 2000+ z24's.
i don't know what the differences are between the two though.
GO PATS!!!
96-02 Z24s have 2.4L Engine in it. 95 Z24 has a 2.3L engine in it.
You have a 2.4L LD9 engine.
I have a different code on mine too.. but they're all LD9 motors under that timing chain cover
96-98 2.4L = LD9 (first generation)
99-02'ish 2.4L = LD9 (second generation, slight changes, no EGR)
I think 95 was the LD2..? but not 100% sure on that. It's the 2.3L Quad 4 bastard child that had balancing shafts.. unlike all previous Quad 4's.
92'ish? to 97 2.2L was the LN2? Or is that the 98+ 2200?

So... basically ignore Spark's post there. Wondering if I should just delete it and spare him the shame...
Nah.. we corrected him where he was wrong, as he asked

TC is probably twin cam something... At least that's what I would think.

Makes sense considering it was the first motor to be called "Twin Cam" instead of "Quad 4"

90-97 2.2 were LN2 for sure. 98-02 2200 ???? I don't know if they change the code.
